  1. Guys, what if, instead of trading Archer, the Rays look to trade for Quintana? Far fetched, maybe, but he'd fit in well with their staff and would slot in as their #2 starter behind Archer. They have Honeywell and Adames in the top 50, and a number of other prospects as well. Just speculatin' here, just shootin the breeze
  2. A guy I want for Frazier is Dedgar Jimenez, LHP. 21 years, decent numbers in A+ ball. Not one of the Red Sox top 30 prospects, but an interesting guy. Great name too.
  3. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 09:32 PM) Judge and Sanchez are gonna anchor this Yankees lineup for a long long time. How do we get some young mashers like them? I guess the lazy answer is that the Yankees draft and scout well and the Sox don't, but of course there's more to it than that.
  4. He'd be the cheapest upgrade available to them, and if the Royals don't sell, possibly the best.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) Will the Sox have a chance at Ohtani, or did they blow their wad when they got Robert? Cool segment on him right now on 60 Minutes. Unless he wants to sign with us for 300K, yeah, we're out.
  6. If I had to guess, the back half of the Dash's season will be pretty good. Birmingham tho :s
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 02:18 PM) Shields is giving away these first career homers like candy today. Well, he got all three guys, so any more is just gravy. I'll be glad when its Rodon out there struggling and not James f'n Shields.
  8. Of those, i'd take the Yankees package but I don't think we get that much. If the Yankees package was Frazier, Sheffield, and Florial i'd still probably still do that.
  9. Actually, Avi is super 2, which I forgot. Since this will be his third pass thru arb, he might earn slightly more than that. There aren't many cases like this - Dee Gordon would have been a good one, but he signed a multi year deal prior to his second pass thru arb, so there's not a case study.
  10. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:55 PM) If he goes to arbitration next year, what is he likely to get? $6-7 mm? Well, if you look at JD Martinez, he broke out in 2014, his last pre-arb season. His first time through arb, he got 3 mil, the same as Avi. He continued to hit well and signed a two year deal buying out his arb years for 18.5 mil. The first year of that deal guaranteed Martinez 6.75 mil. Assuming the Tigers got some slight savings over the arb process, you can assume that Avi would probably get slightly more than that, given his performance, but nothing crazy like 10 mil, given his lack of track record. So probably a little over 7 mil.
  11. Hopefully that's it for Q tonight. Very successful outing.
  12. Well all the large sons are hitting dingers tonight.
  13. Holland is trash, so at this point i'm ok with him being torched. I wish we had more pitching to trade, but i'll take the Ls and hope for the best. Nice to see the large sons hit a few dingers tonight.
  14. Great Falls, which is usually a strong affiliate, look really good so far. Curbelo with another strong game - 3/5 with a BB, K and a homer. Franklin Reyes also 3/5 with a 2B and a BB. It would be really nice if those two turned into something. (It should be noted they drew 14!!! walks, compared to 5K's)
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) Saved half a million dollars, so that is nice. Hopefully it gets used to bring in at least one of the HS kids. Or Skoug, who will likely want overslot money.
  16. Really though, the Nats need 3 relievers, since they have to account for the inevitable mediocrity of Matt Albers.
  17. Guys who could be on the market competing with Robertson: Roberto Osuna Justin Wilson Colome (highly skeptical of the Rays as sellers tho) Britton? He hasn't been healthy but he's very good Doolittle Neshek Nicasio Jim Johnson Probably a lot I missed. Robertson is far from the Nats only option. It just happens to be a good fit.
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 09:06 PM) Curbelo 2-3, 2B so far. Nice start for him. Franklin Reyes, now manning 1B, is 1-4 with a 2B. This kid struck out like, 40% of the time in the AZL last season, so its nice for him to start out with no K's at a higher level. Only 18 - one to watch.
  19. Enny has been decent, but with Glover hurt, they have nothing after him. It's pretty much Albers and that's it. It's a hell-pit of sub-replacement garbage, and yet they're still like, 10 games up on the Mets.
  20. Normally i'd say this would be a good time to sign and flip one of these guys for assets at the deadline, but there doesn't seem to be any market for them right now. It's gotten bad enough that the A's are considering re-signing Alonso rather than trading him, because the return wouldn't be enough. We've got Abreu and Davidson and Delmonico, our 1B/DH situation will work itself out.
  21. He injured his elbow on a slide, not throwing. I don't think this affects Q's market, but it might affect Toad's. Yankees might try Andujar or Wade instead of going outside, though.
  22. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) That's true. Progress stops after 6 months in the minors. There are what they will be. He failed to mention that 5 of the 6 outs he made were K's and that he didn't walk anyone. Honestly, that'd progress.
  23. Defense really screwing over Rey today. 3 errors so far.
