I had zero confidence that Sox could turn Tatis into a real prospect. Maybe he now as a shot with the Padres.

Ranaudo K/BB rate since drafted: 2011: 117/46 2012: 27/27 2013: 127/47 2014: 111/54 2015: 90/46 2016 (MLB): 2/8 With Charlotte: 17/1 This dude is still very talented, if someone could help him work on his control issues, he might just be a quality starter in the majors. In other words, what he's doing in Charlotte is very encouraging.

Crossfit jesus is back! I actually think Rollins v. Styles will be a pretty good title feud at some point. -
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 20, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) Not sure he's passed Tom Seaver or Steve Carlton yet. Not what he said, but pretty sure that's what he meant, based on the context of discussion. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 20, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) Ted Lyons spent 21 seasons with the team and is a HoFer. Ed Walsh had the first championship for the team, designed Comiskey and had some of the most dominant seasons ever. Sale's in striking distance though. I would say greatness would be measured by dominance also. Sale in two of the past 3 years has been as dominant as Walsh has ever been. I'll put him up there along with Ed Walsh and Eddie Cicotte as the most dominant pitcher in Sox history. Obviously longevity matters (that's what she said!), so I'll put Sale just outside of top 5 right now as the greatest Sox pitcher in history, even though his career ERA- and FIP- suggest he's been the best.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 20, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) Sale is going to be the greatest pitcher to ever wear a White Sox uniform when it's all said and done. Mark it down. He already is.

Who would Ray compare to in the bigs? Adam Eaton? AJ Pollock?
-
No walks for Ranaudo, Coop fixed him!
-
Would love to get an updated scouting report on Adams, it's baffling to see a pitcher with his stuff getting hit around like he had been. Maybe he needs to learn to throw more pitches out of the zone, or maybe he needs to work on his command so he could throw more quality strikes instead of down the middle strikes. Had no idea Ynoa got promoted to AAA already, guess they like what they saw during the spring.

QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ May 2, 2016 -> 07:33 AM) If you do not care how the players on opposing teams fare. Or if you don't care about team totals, player's total HR and RBI if they accumulate those stats, or if you don't care about looking at a hideous page in general. Micker Adolfo hit a HR today, but I have to click into his profile to tell how many HR or RBI's he now has from mlbfarm. Cool concept with having a one stop shop, but needs a lot of work before primetime IMO.

Follow him on Instagram. You could tell he's a sports freak (though not many posts on baseball) and that's probably where his enthusiasm and competitiveness come from. And he's also tight with Melky, probably dating back to their days in Toronto. Coming in new already good friends with someone on the team probably helped him mesh in with rest of the team pretty quickly.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 30, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) So did Ryan Pace just use PFF's draft board? Every pick after Floyd was seen by them as a steal, Braverman was #62 on their board and they got him at #230. Pace is definitely an advanced stats guy. Every one of the picks grades out well in a PFF's stat except for Hall.

Great win tonight and with Sale going tomorrow, everything looks to be going up. But then mother nature has to rain on everyone's party, like literally... With 100% chance of precipitation tomorrow, Sox might as well fly back in town tonight and prepare for the game vs. Red Sox on Tuesday.

Cleveland outdrew us? Attendance down 13% so far
thxfrthmmrs replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't get this thread, are we calling for firing of Chance the Rapper already? If you expect a 20 game sample size and the big offseason addition of Todd Frazier to have meaningful impact on the attendance, then you're mistaken and do not understand the Sox fan base. If we can stay in the race all year and spend more time in first place, you're going to see a healthy bump in attendance rate by season's end. But to significantly change the culture on Sox fans attending games, it will take several winning season in a row, legitimate superstars, and several other extrinsic factors to make that happen. -
Pretty impressively, the inevitable question is how much those numbers would have been better by if we didn't have Danks.

Did anyone catch Beckham yell f***K after getting K'd by Sale? -
QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 14, 2016 -> 08:41 PM) Not a great start to the year down on the farm. It's early, but not a great start is an understatement. K/BB ratio is one of the important stats I pay attention to when looking at the farm (I find it hard to get too excited about a hitter if they have poor discipline), and here's how we are stacking up: Charlotte: 20/82 (worst ratio in the league, highest K in the league, and 1/7 tonight), Opponents: 23/55 Winston Salem: 22/75 (worst ratio in the league, highest K in the league, 1/10 tonight), Opponents: 43/68 Kanny: 23/92 (2nd worst in the league, highest K in the league, 0/15 tonight) Opponents: 27/74 Only saving grace is BHam, who actually leads the league in walks. Engel, Alvarez and Narvaez are three of the most disciplined hitters in the system.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 10:08 PM) Didn't see the game. Though I'll concede Green does get away with a lot. Anyway, I wanted the Warriors to win tonight. The Warriors/Spurs game tomorrow is EXTREMELY interesting now. We know the Warriors want and our going for the record. How much does Pop and company want to deny them and how much do they want to go 41-0 at home? Interesting stuff. I am pretty confident Spurs will take it. Second night of a back to back for Warrios and Spurs have been incredible at home this year. No way they come this far to a perfect season at home and then bend over to their rivals right before the playoffs.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 10:34 PM) We've already seen a handful of balls that Rollins simply doesn't have the range for anymore that Alexei of say, 2013, gets to and at least makes a throw. I really think they need to see what Saladino can do 3 days a week at SS. Give Rollins a day off almost every other day as that not only works Tyler into the lineup so they can get a better handle on how he handles live balls (not spring training or AAA bullets) and it also lets Rollins get plenty of rest. I really think the way to maximize this situation is to give Rollins 90-110 starts and Tyler the rest. If Tyler makes it so you have a hard decision to make come July about who the majority starter is the rest of the way good -- if he fails, and Rollins is what he is (1 WAR type at this point) then you look for help via trade. I will say the left side of the IF so far looks pretty bad defensively. I don't miss Alexei at the plate but I certainly miss his range deep in the hole. He lost quite a bit of range the past few years but he still more often than not at least made it close. Rollins just puts those balls in his back pocket. This isn't a video game, you have to consider the psychological factor it has on players playing just every other day. It doesn't give the incumbent and his replacement any chance to develop any type of rhythm at the plate or on the field. If a player has a bad game, he couldn't get back out there to correct his mistakes. If he had a good game, he certainly cools off with not being able to continue to his success immediately. That's why you rarely see it being implemented in the major league. Let Rollins play out there for a few more weeks. When he proves he couldn't handle a full time role. Move him back to the bench and let him play a game or two at SS a week, pinch hit, and maybe DH for a game as well.

QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) Right now he is fantastic but am I seeng him wrong he looks a little chubby with great stuff. I like fat ALbers Chubby guys could have good stuff and be great relievers for several years, see Bobby Jenks. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 09:04 AM) So Scott Carroll is the pitcher mirroring Mat Latos at AAA. Isn't it too early for this? Sox have an off day next week.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 12:46 AM) So does pop go for the 1 seed or rest his guys? 1st seed is pretty much out of the picture for Spurs. Warriors would have to lose 1 game to Memphis and lose both to Spurs, then Spurs would have to win out. The only thing Spurs really have to play for is perfect season at home. So I'd assume they rest their guys in the away game and protect their record on the home game. I give it a 60% GSW tie the record. 20% chance to break it, and 20% chance they fall short.
