All true but it would be nice to sign a few higher end players with the intent of keeping them. The third largest market, only the 2 teams that played in minor league stadiums last year had a lower payroll. Every team should look for a diamond in the rough, but the constant churning of mediocre talent for different mediocre talent is not a winning strategy.

20million floor 40 million ceiling. They could have kept him 2027 also. He probably would have gotten hurt in spring training and play about 60 games. Getting anyone to take the whole 20 million would have been good enough. Now if we can dump JR Ishbia can start with a clean slate.
