6/9| White Sox vs Jays | 7:10PM CT | TLR going for #2766

I like the lineup. -
I would imagine we're only something like 45 days away from Kopech taking a rotation spot. Not saying a swingman wouldn't have use, but I don't think the Sox absolutely need to acquire somebody who can make major league starts this summer.

I hate TLR. -
I’ve always been a big Grandal guy and did feel he was an absolutely perfect fit for this roster. Loved loved loved the signing. He’s been slightly disappointing overall, but he’s still easily a top 3-4 catcher in the game. Totally understand he can be a bit rough on the eyes, but he’s extremely valuable and even moreso on a very right handed hitting heavy lineup that overall struggles to take walks. He’s a perfect complementary piece.

I wish he was at DH tonight.

6/3 | White Sox (33-22) vs Tigers (23-32) | 7:10PM CT | NBCSC

This isn't really that fair of a comp when Leury has really been the only person available to CF. I don't think he needs to play for Madrigal tonight, but Leury playing 45 games to this point is mostly out of necessity. -
I am aware. I didn't say anything about his role, I said he was boring.
-
I may be in the minority, but I found Len quite boring when he filled in for Steve on the telecasts.

I don’t think Engel will be playing CF in days Hamilton is in the lineup. -

I know your comment was not solely directed at me, but I am absolutely 100% rooting for him and haven't "turned" on him at all. But I've personally been on this train for a few weeks. It took major league pitching about a month to figure him out, and now there is absolutely zero reason to throw him a strike. Righties will get him to 2 strikes on garbage, and once he's got 2 strikes on him worst he'll do is hit a texas leaguer. Once he lays off the junk and makes pitchers come to him earlier in the count, he'll start pounding the ball again. He has a ton of offensive talent. But he isn't good enough to swing at everything and still be successful. Almost no one in the history of the game is. -

It has been quite a bit longer than a week. He has hit .212/.272/.319 for a 76 wRC+ since May 1st. He's long overdue for some time on the pine pony against RHP. Lamb is quite simply a better option right now against RHP. -
Wait people want to trade Kopech? Are you kidding me? Dude could very well be the best SP in the game in a year or two.

I wasn't even referring to you specifically, but since you seem to take this Hendriks talk so personally, I figured I'd check out your posting history on Liam: From a game thread, so I can't quote it, but here's a gem: "I can think of 55 million reasons, over 486 games why a 32 year old who was ridden like a rented mule shouldn't have been this team's most expensive acquisition this offseason. His value was inflated, by insane usage patterns that included Hendriks pitching in 75 games in 2019, for the purposes of a pump-and-dump. What's worse, is if this is supposed to be what Hendriks is NOW, how much shittier will he be at age 33 or 34, when Father Time just curb-stomps him? [Just think: An $18 MILLION future middle reliever can keep this org from landing a SP to replace Lynn or Rodon next offseason.] OTOH, I can think of 6.25 million reasons, over a mere 162 games, why Colome would have been the superior FIT for this roster. [Given the self-imposed financial constraints.] There are/were other reasons why Colome would have fit better, if you count up all the closers-in-waiting that populate the MLB roster, and in MiLB for this org." A few more (there are plenty more, but I got bored reading Liam slander);

The contract is by all intents and purposes a 4 year $54M deal. I don't know why this is so hard for you to understand. $54M divided by 4 = $13.5M AAV. Not complicated.
-
Lol - love a good fact checking post that can't even get the facts right. Spend a little some more time studying Hendriks' Sportrac page, and maybe you'll be able to grasp the $13.5M AAV. Which is correct, btw.
-
Compete agreement. I can't imagine 7 inning double headers surviving past 2021. But with Clown Manfred at the helm, who knows. He's probably is support of moving ALL games to 7 innings. Extra inning rule is terrible, but I also think starting man on 2nd could make some sense in the 12th or 13th inning to stop marathon games. But right away is terrible.
-
It was a tongue in cheek comment. I wasn't being fully serious. But there were plenty of people on here that said he was a waste of money, terrible allocation of resources, stuff looked bad, couldn't pitch in the Cell, etc., etc.. $13.5M AAV was never a poor use of resources for an elite closer. Imagine how things would looks right now with Heuer, Bummer or (god forbid) Colome as the closer. All of those guys have been somewhere between terrible and underwhelming so far this year. The Sox made the right call. The people that bitched about overpaying for Hendriks are the same people about the Sox being cheap and never signing anyone. Can't have it both ways.

I thought Soxtalk said this guy sucked?

I hope Eloy has been staying in shape. A tad worried about that. -
Not really. Leury has plenty of use on this team if he's not overused. He's been overused all season because we don't really have any other OF options. You don't just punt depth if you don't have to.
-
At this point, Lamb serves a purpose. I think the obvious answer to this question is Mendick.
