  1. Wouldn't really mind trading him and then trying to sign him in the off-season.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) Ya, I was just following along on twitter as I never looked at the Soxfest schedule but you're correct. Yeah that's why I was trying to make sense of your tweet.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 03:03 PM) He's out there right now. I was just trying to make sense of your comment that made no sense since he is/was supposed to be there on Friday all along.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 03:07 PM) Q was always Friday only. That's what I thought. And if anything were to be close, Hahn wouldn't be talking to the radio shows over the next hour.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 02:54 PM) He's there, he's just going to be there on Friday now. EDIT: Q that is. You mean he won't be there on Friday. Which is what his tweet said apparently.
  6. Can anyone confirm if he was with the team at all yesterday? Maybe a family emergency came up. Hahn is going to be on The Score at 3:40 for anyone interested.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 02:43 PM) I really do think something will happen. For him to not appear at the last minute makes me confident Hahn is still negotiating at the very least. Well anytime he's not talking to the fans, media, eating, sleeping, or s***ting, he's likely talking to trade with someone.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 02:37 PM) I have a feeling that something will happen soon. If we each had a dollar for every time someone posted this...haha
  9. My bud who is there just texted me saying Q is not there.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 01:30 PM) https://twitter.com/NumbersMLB/status/825057147172032515 Moncada was quoted last month that he liked numbers 10, 19, and 27. Unless the Sox sign Alexei back, I'm certain he sticks with 10. Willy Garcia needs to be 27. Lock down the Garcias at 26, 27, and 28. Or 34 and provide some life to the Freddy Garcia jerseys sitting in the back of closets.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 01:25 PM) This feels so liberating.... It's unbearable now with all the political posts. I need to do the same.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) In the end, it doesn't matter where Keith Law ranks Yoan Moncada. His play will let you know where he should have been ranked. Agreed. People read way to into the rankings.
  13. How about Boone Logan or Jerry Blevins as another left-handed reliever? Sign and flip him either in July.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 12:40 PM) This is basically what he says about Moncada: Enormous Explosive athlete that looks like Lawrence Taylor in a baseball uniform Plus runner, good bat speed and plus raw power Bad defender that looks stiff at 2B and a bit better at 3B Destroyed High A .277/.379/.531 but had a 31% strikeout rate Looked lost in big league promotion He said "Moncada wraps his bat and can't get to stuff thrown inside and backspin it, getting on top of those pitches or misses entirely. In his small major league sample, he looked like he never saw a breaking ball in his life". Law says the latter can change with development time (identifying breaking balls) but the former (wrapping his bat) is a more significant mechanical issue that reduces his ceiling. Should be a good leaguer, maybe above average but carries big risk. This is where good coaching comes in to play.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 11:38 AM) Too many Keith Law threads. That's for sure. Agreed! Can someone please clean these up?
  16. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 11:26 AM) Alright so I guess that whole thing where Cleveland came within 1 win of a WS win, absolutely bulldozing Boston and Toronto's insane lineups, without their #2 and #3 starter was just a mirage. If you really feel that relief pitchers cannot be as valuable as starters you're out of touch too. With the growing limitations of starters by way of pitch count and the "noise" one can generate in their projections by winning 1 run games (bullpen is what wins you 1 run games) relief pitchers were already gaining larger roles. Now that this idea of having a closer and a high leverage firefighter has become in vogue its making them even more valuable. Look around the league and see what everyone is doing. Cubs traded for Wade Davis, Yankees brought back Chapman, Red Sox traded for Thornburg, Melancon got a ton of money from SF, losing Jansen was never even an option for LA...these are the perennial contenders you want the Sox to be and look at how they value relief pitching now. To be fair, they relied on their bullpen heavily due to having to run out back-end starters most of the games.
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) They aren't dumb as hell. He doesn't think Lopez has any chance to start, therefore he's not on the list. We really shouldn't be butthurt about what Keith Law thinks anyway though. Exactly haha it has no bearing on how the player's career will go.
  18. Everyone is going to have their own views and opinions on players. I don't really understand why people get upset about rankings.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 10:22 AM) What I always understood is that he was OK with Robin most of the time. It was Kenny Williams that Sale hated. It was that way until he tossed Robin under the bus after not defending him about the whole jersey cutting incident.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 07:43 PM) Yeah, except Ventura didn't even manage to completely lose his lockerroom or his player respect. Nah, just of our ace pitcher.
  21. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 06:51 PM) Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the fact that Q will be at SoxFest has me thinking he'll be with the team on Opening Day. He's still a member of the team. Of course he would be there. What would they say to him? "Hey we are trying to trade you so don't come to Sox fest" haha Though, I do agree he is probably going to be the Opening Day starter.
  22. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 02:31 AM) I don't follow The Score enough to know what roles are being discussed here, but if we are talking on-air talent moved to producer, then yes, that's a downgrade. I worked at a radio station in the market a few years ago and was an on-air talent for my own sports show, and then stayed after and produced the next guy's show for experience. Then we all also took turns being assigned to have to run the board for certain live events or Cubs/NFL games, and THAT was the absolute worst job in the studio. Running the board is the worst. Producing a show and obviously hosting a show can both be fun, depending how much you feel like doing. We simulcasted video live online as well, so producing the later show was actually pretty fun for me because I got to add a lot of content to the video portion of the show that listeners wouldn't even know. Like switching cameras or displaying my laptop screen where we could SHOW traffic and weather as well as websites related to our guests or articles in which the host is referring, etc. It was cool seeing the live feedback on the chatroom when I was able to provide additional info for the viewers. This in reference to Abbatacola (didn't feel like going back)? It would seem like going from producing a show to "reading updates every 20/30 mins" would be a downgrade.
  23. QUOTE (southside guru @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 09:32 AM) How many of us have actually seen Moncada play. My guess not many. My question is...How does an organization give up on a #1 Prospect they signed less than 2 years ago for a 31.5 million dollar bonus? We all believe Chris Sale is awesome. but did we actually get value for this trade? Hope so, but time will tell. Also, would we, as Sox fans, be up in arms if we traded away on a 21 year old #1 Prospect? Current state of the team? Yes If the team was built strong at the MLB level and was trading for a top 5 pitcher in baseball with 3 cheap years of control left and had minor league depth? No
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 09:03 AM) I mean, probably closer to Dahl/Pint/3rd piece. Robertson would add basically none of the rest. Dahl is really good and already ML proven, don't underrate that. Yeah and he did good. If anything, the Rockies would likely be willing to deal Blackmon away somewhere for prospects instead but I think his price is too high. I think they should move CarGo to 1B and let Desmond play OF personally if his is the current roster they break camp with.
