  1. Need bullpen arms a couple of hitters and a new Manager and the Sox could conceivably get back into the mix in the Central next season instead of last place.
  2. Mays passing was a sad day for Major League baseball. He was a trailblazer in so many ways and a sports hero to many. That basket catch in the 1954 World Series announced by the great Jack Brickhouse will forever be part of baseball lore. It was a privilege for those of us that got to see him play.
  3. or bring up Quero from Birmingham.
  4. 100% ! Cub fans always want the Sox to trade their best talent and tank. Oh sure, just wallow in perpetual rebuilding mode with a bevy of prospects, most of whom will never pan out. It's such a foolish short-sighted strategy, especially with the change in the Draft protocol. No need to continually kick the can down the road and depress the fan base with promises made that cannot ever be kept. The chance of having numerous prospects from trades blossom in a crescendo that results is a WS championship is a fool's mission. There are 30 teams all trying to get better every year. For the WSox, the focus should be on improving year after year in order to stay competitive. When and if the team becomes good enough to contend for a WS championship, then it's time to salt the roster with a few players to help get there, like the White Sox did in 2005.
  5. If you want to blame Yoan and Eloy for being injured and being unable to play, OK, but Kopech isn't in that "mix", he is just no good.
  6. DFA Kopech. Enough is enough.
  7. We are seeing a potential rotation begin to form with Crochet, Thorpe, Cannon and the possibility of a few more from the minors. We need a bullpen and that is easier said than done. I would not trade any of the premier talent we have in the line-up (Robert, Eloy, Moncada, Vaughn, Lee), unless the return includes major league ready players that are proven hitters. No more trades for "prospects" that you wait years to develop and never pan out. Open the wallet and pay to keep most of the talent we have...then add to it. I'm just not in favor of tanking and just getting rid of players we may not like but are not easily replaced.
  8. Eloy's hamstring injuries are not "legit?" That is shear nonsense. It is a fact that athletes who have had hamstring injuries and or hamstring surgery face a high probability of recurrent injury. I understand there are reasons, legitimate or otherwise, to dislike Eloy, but his hamstring issues are no fault of his. Unfortunately the likelihood of recurrence diminishes any trade value he might have.
  9. That's pretty ugly and wrong.
  10. I think Kopech and Maldonado have to go via DFA. I prefer Bran Ramos over Sosa at third. Robert and Eloy are hitters with HR power which this team needs regardless if we like or not like them.
  11. We almost never hang on to win these close games. s%*# bullpen.
  12. Hawk always favored the change-up as a pitch to get batters out. If the Hawk is watching, I bet he has enjoyed the stuff Thorpe has. Contrast Kopech losing yesterday and taken deep in the cub game primarily relying on a big fastball (that is straight as an arrow).
  13. Thorpe has to be nervous as hell. Let's not judge him by his first game here. Good luck young man.
  14. I should have said that I heard someone say that but I have not found anything that would confirm that. Nonetheless, Thorpe looks like he going to be a great pitcher.
  15. I understand he is related to the great Jim Thorpe, a true legend.
  16. Ozzie is fine where he is right now. He doesn't want or need garbage like what is being thrown by insignificant, irrelevant twits. I'm going to see him in Joliet Saturday.
  17. Kopech is just wasting everyone's time and money at this point. Just release him and be done with it.
  18. " Dick exploded and basically said if he wanted to know what the pitcher was throwing he should have his ass on the bench watching with the rest of us." Maybe Ron was in the bathroom or taking an insulin shot, who knows. I watched the Cubs and WSox back in the day and met Santo years later. I found him to be a very humble and gracious man who fought a lifetime battle with diabetes that ended very brutally and sorrowfully. I recall Ron doing "Santo's thing" after a win where he jumped up and clicked his heels. Having said that I also recall that he openly ripped into Don Young for making 2 misplays...an event that some point to as the beginning of the end for the '69 Cubs. My God did they choke.
  19. Love this young player. Great family and a great young man. 457 foot bomb. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/video/george-wolkow-socks-a-two-run-homer?q=ContentTags %3D ["playerid-805804"] Order by Timestamp DESC&cp=CMS_FIRST&p=0

  21. "Yes, I am a judge of character as we all are as human beings. I’m 44 years old, but what does that have to do with anything, gramps? " The post you questioned was about what the poster felt as a fan of Bobby Hull at that time. Bobby meant a LOT to young Hawk fans who knew nothing about any allegations by his then wife or ex-wife. As far as your characterization of Bobby Hull, there are a lot of athletes and politicians that abused alcohol (Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Joe Namath) and/or had allegations of sexual abuse levied against them by ex-wives yet were or are admired by certain people.
