I can’t imagine many would disagree with that, but there are simply too many things Abreu does on a daily basis that can’t be measured by WAR or anything else. Hell if half of the recruiting stories are true, he's already earned his contract before he ever won his MVP.

May 16, 20214 yr Looked at my phone while out for an “escape” walk...GameDay app says Mercedes, out/s. Then trying to figure out what kind of play Merrifield made to gun down Moncada. Oh no, we’re going to screw it up in extras, Hendriks doesn’t do well in tie games, etc. Or we’ll send Ruiz or Marshall out there. Remembers the best opportunity with Davis’ offspeed stuff is a Grandal is walk or WP. At the same time, nearly, the A’s were scoring against the Twins in a similar wild pitch scenario to take the 7-6 lead in the top of ninth. Positive, Minnesota fans spared another extra innings heartbreaker. And thank God for TA. Edited May 16, 20214 yr by caulfield12

I said I am not writing KC and Cleveland off in the middle of May. I have seen a lot of baseball this season and in years past on which to base that opinion. Edited May 16, 20214 yr by tray

Somebody understands the key is laying off the 60% of pitches he throws out of the strike zone. M’s with one hell of a game plan.
May 16, 20214 yr That game was damn fun....I loved Moncada's reaction on that RBI single to tie it up.

To me on the angle from third base it looks like the catchers mitt bends back as Jose is sliding by and then moves forward. It is extremely close, not surprised it wasn't overturned, and of course really happy he was called safe. Just saying if I was a Royals fan I would be mad about it

The Sox' fortunes will totally be a result of what they do or don't do with the tools they have. They only reason you cannot write off KC or CLE is because someone will be there to benefit should the Sox simply wet themselves this summer. Edited May 16, 20214 yr by SpringfieldFan

That was the angle that convinced me that he was really safe. I think Matheny is wrong on this one. Edited May 16, 20214 yr by skooch

Yep, you're totally correct, my bad, 5-2 home stand...I misheard Benetti, he mentioned the Sox with a series split of the Royals would be 8-2 the last divisional games, somehow I misconstrued it as a home stand ? I couldn't care less what he says.
