They said they are working on something to "celebrate" fans. So Soxfest is done, until they win enough they feel safe. Cowards won't face the music.

Just more lack of accountability. I wish someone in the media would call them out on it. For it to be August and they have nothing tells you all you need to know. These things are booked often years in advance. Tom Ricketts seems like a bit of a weasel to me, but he faced the music.

I think I mentioned this before, but its often been written on the site that the White Sox hate their fans. I always used to laugh at the ridiculousness of that statement. But every passing year, it seems more and more likely that the statement is true. Fans are just the necessary evil to them.

It’s actually JR who hates his fans, all starts and ends with him!

First off JR has no fans outside of his family and shareholders.

JR may hate Chicago fans which is why :hawk:after he blows this up enough for fans not to care they are moving.

It has been 1,367 days since the last Soxfest date (1/25/20).

The other Chicago teams including Jerry’s Bulls are holding fan festivals.

Why does Brooks Boyer still have a job if he can’t provide minimal fan engagement such as holding SoxFest, or season tickets events?

Why is there a blank SoxFest page which only provides links to subscribe to text and email spam to be used by Brooks Boyer’s minions to harass and insult current and potential season ticket holders?

Are we not human beings worthy of engagement and celebration? My high school has a far more extensive fan and alumni outreach than this $2B organization.

Well it's not like your high school can just up and move to Nashville if they piss off everyone in their area.

It would be interesting to know exactly how much say Brooks has in this area. Obviously he has some but if JR says "We're not doing it..." Well...there you go.

Bottom line the organization as a whole simply does not want to engage with a frustrated, angry fan base at this time. Can't say I blame them but it is gutless on their part.

It’s more like contraction vs. moving over the past few decades, with neighborhood schools closing or merging to survive.

Daley tore down our school (Old Saint Pat’s Parish is still there) to build the Kennedy back in the 1950s, before kicking out the Italians decade later for Circle Campus.

They had a Soxfest a few months after the White Flag Trade. White Sox GM Ron Schueler didn't show up. Maybe they just don't want to hold another Soxfest in the future.

While hard to calculate - this sure seems like a terrible idea in terms of maintaining a long term fanbase. Bringing a whole bunch of kids to a place where they can meet ballplayers and get autographs seems like a great way to make them into fans of that team for decades, to the point where their kids might wind up as fans of the same sport and same team. I get there was only so much you could do in 2020 and 2021, but failing to do this now seems like sabotaging the 2028 and 2035 attendance numbers.

Can't cost very much net to put this on, drum up interest in a team which sorely needs fan interest and positive good news.  Have smaller informal gatherings throughout Chicago communities with former Sox players at little league events during the season. Half of CPS students are Latino, start broadcasting games on television and events in various communities to draw in fans you alienated or never reached out to in the first place.

So many things big and small can be done. All Boyer offers is the same old same old (fireworks, 1983 uniforms, bring your dog and 1/2 way to St. Patricks Day, etc.) decade after decade.

It's hilarious that you think this is a Brooks Boyer thing.

This isn't just a White Sox thing. The players all hate it because they have to come into town during the offseason.

IIRC personal appearances in and out of season are part of player contracts. New United States based players should attend their first available season. other Sox with the highest fan interest should rotate. Make it worthwhile for former players / featured team anniversary celebrations.

Most teams accommodate their fans. The Sox need to fight harder to increase fan interest.

"Fixing SoxFest" article, when people thought it might return for 2024.

They frequently are, but that doesn’t mean they have to happen in the winter. You may notice an increase in instances of 2-3 guys going along to appear at community impact department projects in years where soxfest doesn’t happen. It’s one of those things that the team can impel, but you don’t necessarily want to insist on things that your employees all hate. You don’t hear it talked about much, but many teams (the progressive ones first, the others following more recently) have made a major effort from teams over the past five to ten years to invest in quality of life features (facilities or otherwise) to help attract free agents because the money has gotten so high — why not offer a perk that costs nothing?

I feel so bad for them.

I hate spending money watching a team with no clue. That hasn't stopped them from continuing to do it.
