GreenSox
I just don't understand why the 30+ year old riff-raff is continuing to play this late in the season. Oh yea, bring in Taylor to pinch hit; Tyler Alexander to the mound. None of that is serious effort. A laugh a minute.

Lip Man 1
More putrid offense. More garbage pitching from Wilson and Alexander. They'll break 100 losses again.
nrockway
15 Ks on 33 PAs. Sosa 0-4, 4 Ks. The chase is catching up with him. Good one to miss. Thought we were gonna avoid 100 Ls but it seems inevitable at this point. Edited September 16 by nrockway

He just can’t stay healthy enough to start full-time which is what the cheap White Sox no doubt have planned for him next season Tauch is handy guy to have around but only coming off the bench, we need to sign a power bat for RF in the off-season. It’s a long season, especially for these rookies. Not too concerned.

The Sox aren't going to spend big money for a corner power bat with Braden likely up at some point next season...and definitely not going to give 2-3 year contracts that extend into 2027. They'll be lucky to get a Josh Bell or Dominic Smith type. Edited September 16 by caulfield12

Another guy who seems perfect in his role is Romy Gonzalez. He has played in 86 of 150 games this season usually against lefty starters. He has been excellent at 2B as well as a decent 1B. He is batting .312 this year and .286 last season. I think injuries were a factor but he struggled from 2021-2023 with the White Sox but he has been a great roles player in Boston. Romy is another great example of a guy who just needed a bit of time to get it at the major league level and settle into a role that fit his skills best of all. It's exactly why you do everything you can to play these types of guys so as to do real self-evaluations on them, so as to capture as best you can the ones who will give you positive impacts on the roster in the future. Wins and losses are secondary to internal evaluations these days. The hope is that one of these days soon the team will need to value wins more than evaluations and we won't have the ability to let guys fail at times like we do now. It's all of the more reason to do it now. And go figure, the team improved a ton when we quit running out sub replacement old man utility players, and started actually going with the youth movement. Judging by how some have turned out, maybe the cupboard wasn't as bare as we were led to believe, and it was opportunity and development that needed improving. They would need to go 6-5 to avoid 100 losses. Once again they play well for a bit to get me somewhat excited for next season and then they crater again. I forget how it went down...Romy always seemed pretty good here but had some injuries if I recall correctly. Did our Sox move on from him because of the injuries or did Getzy choose to just go with veterans over guys like Romy?
