Winter Meetings Dec. Trades FA Signings Thread

Seems like the Twins are trying to compete, which is more than you can say for the Sox. I'm not even an advocate of them doing much, but how little they're doing to bolster the 2026 team is shocking even to me. Don't care about Josh Bell specifically, but when you can't spend $6 mil on a lefty bat, it's just sad.

Which is scary, because I was counting on the Twins to keep selling and collapse this year.  The Sox might not be getting out of last place again.

5.5 mil with a 1.25 mutual buyout.....not bad. Would've been fine with that here.

$7 million guaranteed.  If Josh Bell gets this much, just think what Ryan O’Hearn will get paid.  Sox likely getting priced out of the FA market.

Not sure if this helps or hurts Robert’s value. They’ve been about the same hitter the past two seasons, but Robert brings more to the table and will start the season 5 years younger. Is that worth the difference? Who knows.

If anything maybe it’ll put some pressure on the Mets.

They can still use another OF if they don’t want to start Castellanos.

Don't you think Jerry is saving up for a big splash?

Garcia will slot into RF for the Phillies per their beat writer.  Despite citing the OF as a possible need for the Sox, Garcia was never going to be a realistic option for us given his free swinging ways.  IMO, this only helps the value of Robert as mediocre corner OFs are getting decent sized salaries.

I just wonder if Getz has actually tried to sign some decent free agent and  those free agents have declined to come here simply because they don't want to be  playing for the White Sox.

Maybe. And maybe the tier that Getz is targeting is waiting for more valuable players to be taken off the board first, or for the teams closer to competing to decline them.
