Sox swing and a miss with black history month graphic

How do you not mention Frank? Anderson as well, but not mentioning Frank is insane. He's arguably the best player in franchise history and IS BLACK.

Frank is really pissed about it.

“I guess the Black player who made you rich over there and holds all your records is forgettable!" he wrote. "Don’t worry, I’m taking receipts!”

Frank is the big one.

Then TA and Dye.

How can you f*** this up?

It's wild because I used to think that we ran one of the most color blind organizations out there, and it didn't really matter what you looked like, we hired whoever fit best.

A mistake like this seems like a big one though, especially in an organization with established  and long term leadership in the PR department.  How do you not know that a guy like Frank Thomas should be one of the first people you mention in a black history month context?  This is the easy stuff.

Frank is in there, under the Dick Allen 1972 entry. He deserves more than that. Big, BIG miss not having standalone 1993/1994 entries for Frank's back to back MVPs, and 2014 HOF election.

I am also going to note, that Frank has always been sensitive and moody.  If anyone was going to get upset from being excluded, it was going to be him.  Even if he is right here, he was always going to notice.

f*** that s%*#. He's right and it has nothing to to with him being "sensitive". This was a lazy half assed PR thing from JR's crew and it's the same bush league s%*# we've seen for decades. I'm tired of it. Bush league org.

Definitely think there was a way to incorporate one of, if not your most, notable former players a little more. They do reference him with the MVP's after Dick Allen. His picture should probably have been in there instead of Bo in the 1990's bullet.

Having said that, the post was reflecting "upon momentous FIRSTS for the White Sox" organization. Was Frank the "FIRST" to do anything in team history?

BHM is 28-days long, perhaps there are more coming singling him out, who knows.

I dont know that Frank was a trailblazer of sorts but yeah should probably get his own timeline there.

I'm more confused that Minnie Minoso isnt black.

I thought that was clumsily handled as well. It's really BLACK AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH and not "Cubans with African descent month". They could have said something about how Minnie was treated because of his skin and helped break the color barrier for foreign players as well as US blacks, but they half assed it.

I wonder if JR had anything to do with hit. He seems to still have beef with Frank.

That would be my guess.  That's how things roll under Jerry Reinsdorf, if you're not a total loyalist, you're blacklisted.  If you ARE a total loyalist, there's surely some important position for you in the front office.

First Black batting champion in team history. First two-time MVP.

100%.

Frank is inner circle all time hitter in the history of the game.  And every Sox fan knows he’s super sensitive, and the FO sure as heck knows he’s sensitive too, way more than we know.

So you don’t leave him off this frickin list.  And you sure make him the centerpiece of this list.  And you sure better make damn sure that he’s mentioned in more esteem than KW.  Or at least not noticeably less.  That’s the one thing that would make him extra pissed.

Insane.

Ridiculous.

He’s the best baseball player in the history of Chicago.
