That might be the longest inning in history without a run scored

Was interesting to hear what Bannister had to say about it. In his quest to get better he may have accidentally made himself worse.

    It looks like this: Rogers,2-0 1.38era Smith,0-2 19.29era

  • I just hope Smith doesn't get rocked again.

2 zeros though which is progress at least.

Bipolar pitching.

I am so surprised he got out of that after 12 pitches. Whew.

Will be fortunate to get through 4.

Outside of Vargas this lineup has little chance to beat up Rogers...O's best pitcher.

58 pitches vs 10

Rogers has 4 outs on as many pitches as Gunnar just got in 1 AB.

He'd get one if they took him out now.

This offense has no shot

could Colson hit off a tee right now? honest question

This offense is just terrible. Colson has no pitch recognition

Is it bad I don’t see anyone in the lineup or rotation that will be starting on next contending team, outside possibly Colson?

Smith’s offspeed stuff is so much better than his fastball, which feels like the complete opposite of last season.

I always find it funny when people say positive regression. That seems to be a term that comes from sports. But why not just say progression or progress ? Not directing this at you .Its just one of those things .

It's just shorthand for regression to the mean, but from a level of underperformance rather than overperformance (which is what most people think when you don't include the "positive" modifier.)

Not sports specific, you'll also hear it in economics, politics, and other areas that deal with trendlines.

A bit different than just "progress" because the implication is returning to some expected level established by a previous sample size. I suppose "progression towards the mean" would carry the same meaning, but eh.

Quero is bad at challenges

Come on Edgar, that wasn't close

These Orioles at bats are insane. Smith really struggling to throw the ball in the zone and all these guys are going up there chasing constantly.

What a wild stat line for Smith through 3.

Maybe the bats look stiff because they are standing out in the cold for 20+ minute innings with no balls in play?

I'd be yelling at the sky, if I were an Orioles fan and saw these ABs against Smith.

This is what they've been doing a lot since they took a tumble in the standings last year. They're way too aggressive.

I don't think I've ever seen a guy swing at a pitch and get hit by it in the back shoulder.

Benintendi has to go. He’s so heartless
