He'd be an awful regular in CF or at SS. On good teams guys can slot into roles, thankfully we have one this year.

Unless he is part of a trade at the deadline I think he is here for the rest of the season. It will be interesting in 2027 if Roch gets called up, with Sam, Chase, and Acuna I think Acuna is odd man out.

I project Acuna to stay in UT/ pinch runner role for the rest of the season.Well that.... or I'm pretty sure the Pirates would have laughed and hung up the phone if the Sox offered Acuna instead of Gonzalez.

Up til the trade deadline Boston faces Tampa Baltimore Toronto Atlanta and then the Dodgers. They are currently 2 games under .500, they could absolutely get wiped out of contention by the time the deadline hits. of course they could keep streaking but it’s hard to see them maintaining that for the next 2 1/2 months

You're literally talking about 46 at bats.To answer your question, he's been worth .6 fWAR. While running a 486 BABIP. Maybe you think he's going to start running 486 BABIP's for fun, but I have my doubts! If he was running a 293 BABIP (where his career has been so far), he'd be hitting around 230 over that period of time. That said, his xwOBA is at a much more respectable 343 over that period of time, but again it's small sample noise. He's very likely still a bad baseball player. He's also been a negative defender over that same period.Better defensive SS than Colson
6 hours ago6 hr I don’t have a burning desire in my loins to overpay in order to build a pitching staff around Reid Detmers. There, I said it. Phew!

And all of the sudden we’re like the Dodgers Padres Yankees RedSox, fine to be lightning prospects on fire, plenty more where those come from . Who are we? Who, who?
3 hours ago3 hr Is acquiring veteran players at the break actually a winning formula for the second half of the season or merely an outdated baseball cliche? Why would a team need to add anybody if it's already doing great? Maybe try to steal a reliever for some stiff in Class A and cash but a real trade? Cmon.

3 hours ago3 hr Kay now has 93 IP, 60 IP more than his previous high in 2021. How many more innings does he have in him? Between he and Fedde's limited efficiency, so many pitches on their arms. Sox desperately need to acquire another starter if they want to ride this train into the playoffs. Both dudes have been tough as nails pros but how much will they have left come Sept?

Thanks!Still, he does struggle to go 6 innings; just 3 times this year while still getting his pitch counts relatively high. Edited 2 hours ago2 hr by Rounding_Third

I get Angels may not do that but it’s a high end arm for a solid pitcher with above average stuff closer to free agency…but he isn’t a top of the rotation guy and Smith could be.
