Now that the deadline has come to an end, I wanted to see how we would all grade the collective work of Getz and the front office. Below is a summary of the players added & subtracted from the organization:

Fine. Nothing earth-shattering but also nothing to work myself into a lather over. I like the Brazoban, Bart, and Castillo moves. The Doyle trade confuses me, but the player dev side has earned some runway.

Hope they are in a position to push more chips in next season, but I get why they didn't.

C. I would vote F but I’ll give them credit for not moving any of our higher rated prospects trying to chase this season.

Im not sure our active roster is any better than it was Friday. In fact the rotation and lineup may have gotten worse. So D. The bullpen looks stacked at least.

It’s so hard to give a grade when you aren’t a part of the conversations. Take the catcher position, for example. I wanted Stephenson, but he didn’t even move, which tells me the asking price was too high. I think if Getz traded for Stephenson, my grade for him would be even lower because of who he had to give up. But do I know that for sure? Of course not.

Bart very well could have been the best option without giving up too much. And if you upgrade a position of need in the best way possible, then that deserves an A. But it’s crazy to give an A for a Bart acquisition.

In summary, I have no clue how to grade it. Strictly in terms of how much better we got, I’d give it a C.

Seemed like a bit of an overpay on Castillo since we took his whole salary and gave cash and I'm worried about how many home runs he's been giving up.

The reliever seems like a nice move and the bullpen looks set for the most part.

Bart is an improvement.

The OF move is perplexing.

Bart upgrade defensively and offensively but only because Quero was so obscenely bad.

Doyle 28 older project but great defensively but added to clusterfuck of RHH OF which led to the Pereira DFA who despite his injuries had upside and a lot of service time left but no options .

Leaning a bit too much on age and coaching staff . C-

Just curious, does the no rentals hurt or help your grade?

While I love the surprise of how well this team is playing, this isn't a give up prospects kind of season. After decades of watching horrible overpaying and head scratching trades, this seemed more restrained, and forward looking.

I appreciate the willingness to take on a bad contract over giving away prospects. They showed a willingness to really dive in and be active.

I think it's a positive sign of the direction the franchise is moving. I don't believe there was a realistic blockbuster trade, and again, I wouldn't give up 2028 for 2026.

It's more surplus value but that depends entirely on how they perform the rest of the season to know if they are viable options for 2027 and beyond.

Turning Castillo around can be the most likely strength but also the biggest bust.

Don't have much hope of Brazoban performing well into his late 30's or Bart being anything more than Teel's backup next year.

Doyle has to rebound also, maybe not this year, but definitely next year when he turns 29 in May. Otherwise he's just another AAAA guy.

I gave many of you a C. And, like some are pointing out, it was a seller's market. We have no idea what the price tag for a player like Deitmers or Stephenson was. Angels are the Angels and the Reds decided to compete. I can't even blame them for that, even though I think it's unlikely they make the playoffs.

Castillo trade was an overpay. Castillo for Dominguez straight up would probably have been fine. Starting pitching is a premium, and if you think you can fix him, it's a risk, but sure. To me, throwing in Boston Smith makes it an overpay, and yes, I'm sure I am overvaluing Boston Smith.

The best trade was the Mets trade. Getting a controllable reliever, even at 36 is a nice addition.

Joey Bart- Whatever. Maybe is a marginal plus addition, but man, it would be nice to make a move for a more substantial catcher.

What I am happy about is that we didn't move off of any of our true prospects for mid-tier additions. At this point, If we can just get into the dance- that's a great season for us. The work to become a perennial World Series contender needs to come in the off-season.
