I remember all of this. I was hoping for another Pro team in Chicago. I grew up in a family of White Sox/Chicago Cardinals fans. I was at the last Chicago Cardinals home game in 1959. If the 2 leagues hadn't merged Chicago would have had another team in the city. The merger killed that.Halas would never allow another team here. They are content having a monopoly of NFL football in Chicago. It doesn't matter if they win or lose, the team sells out all their games. They have a 30 year waiting list for season tickets. There is really no incentive for them to have good teams. They have a goldmine here.

Good point. By WE’s own defense of the trades and citing the Sox winning percentage, apparently this means that the trades weren’t a resounding success. The Sox winning percentage has decreased post-trade deadline.

The Castillo trade is a complete disaster. Doyle brings something to the Sox this year but they gave up too much for him. Brazoban has been awful but there is at least a little hope he can be better and close to worth his trade. Bart obviously bad luck but also probably could get the same thing from players they either already had or could have gotten for free. Overall, a complete bed-shitting trade deadline. Focusing on guys under contract for next year was a huge mistake. Could have gotten a much better SP for a similar price by just grabbing one of several 2026 FAs. Do that, and the other smaller failures don't matter as much.

Except Getz traded away a starting pitcher option that would have been better in the rotation than Castillo for that late inning outfield defense that you love. Hell, go sign Billy Hamilton out of retirement and you could have the same thing, along with Adams in the rotation instead of Castillo, and Boston Smith still in the minors. It pretty much stinks any way you look at it. There is no polishing these two turd trades.
