Excellent advice, too bad the White Sox didn’t believe in that game plan.

You’ve been killing it this week with all the breaking news/most recent info. Thank you!- 2027 Offense
I expect the position player side to look very similar next season. It was a productive group and consists mostly of pre-arb guys. Sox are in the very nice position of expecting some players to do something that I know we aren't used to seeing: get better. Sure, probably some regression as well, but that's the usual. The most obvious "hole" is the DH position. Benny's hits were very timely last year but that is not a repeatable skill; his lack of overall production is something that he has repeated for quite some time now. Sox don't necessarily have to go get a DH-only player but they have a spot they can use to add an excess bat. Colson is the wild card in my view. If I just look at him as an ordinary player, it's 100% obvious that he must be the opening day shortstop with a reasonably long leash to show he's going to be more like the guy he was for the first 4-6 months of his career. Just huge upside in getting it right and if you tried to move him, the act of doing so is going to arouse a lot of suspicion in any front office you're dealing with. Colson's worked through some brutal slumps before so we know he has that in him, but the second half of 2026 was a real grind with not a lot of bright spots. I wish I could know what the Sox are thinking about it. I'm sure not going to move him solely on the basis that Roch Cholowsky, who has not shown anything as a professional besides a very forgettable 50 at bats in A-ball, is going to immediately unseat him. If you move Colson, then you're making Meidroth your shortstop for the foreseeable future. I love Chase! It could be just fine, but it wouldn't be my plan A. You're going to run it back with Peters but of course nobody is going to be completely shocked if he becomes a glove-only guy in CF. Doyle will get another chance in a part-time role, I suspect. He does have MiLB options. Braden must be your starting RF. He's arguably the highest upside player in the system, at least on the MLB team, and he arrived ahead of schedule. And frankly he played just fine, especially by the standards of White Sox RF. He's also the lowest hanging fruit for "players to reasonably expect to improve" given his inexperience, big talent, and lower baseline of production. He finished the season having a hell of a time batting against LHP but this is not my first rodeo and I've seen a lot of switch hitters just need some time to get going from that side. I remember feeling hesitant about promoting him out of AA, given that he only got 17 PA against lefties his entire time at that level (and only 30 more in AAA). You just don't get as many reps, but you'll get them eventually in the show. He actually hit LHP better in his first year as a pro. No decisions to make at 3B, 2B, 1B, or LF. I know some people aren't believers in Mune but that's ultimately beside the point because he's going to be on the team as the primary 1B regardless of whether you believe in him. Teel is your primary catcher but they will have to think about the backup situation. I'd kick the tires on Ryan Jeffers as a DH/C swingman but I bet another team would want/need him more. I won't be shocked in the slightest if they are so addicted to Drew Romo that he ends up serving as backup once again. I don't endorse it, I'm just making a prediction. A strong righty bat makes some sense and IDK if I want to rely on Randal Grichuk to keep it up. I'd certainly be taking a real close look at Arozarena and Seiya Suzuki. If that makes Sam your DH sometimes then so be it. I'm not necessarily against Luisangel returning but I suspect he'll be an end of spring training DFA unless there end up being health issues creating a spot for him. I see no reason to put Brooks Baldwin on the team given how little he has proven as a hitter and how much he has proven as a fielder (proven to be a very bad one, I mean). We're talking worse outfield play than Antonacci without the hitting and personality. And as far as team fit goes, he was functionally a lefty hitter with respect to his splits so I don't know what his role could be. Tanner Murray I think is probably going to be DFA'd. Nishida another one who I think could be on the chopping block as the 40-man roster crunch begins to hit. Junior Perez is living a charmed life to still have his place on the 40. Edmundo Sosa could be an under the radar guy in FA as a righty who hits lefties okay and plays good defense basically everywhere on the diamond. On the other hand he may be the least disciplined hitter in MLB and I've yet to see Getz target a guy like that. As for lower-end RH bats to play some outfield, there's a Cuban named Robert who may be available cheaply.- Fall/Winter Ball 2026
He had a strange season. Great start and a great finish and I guess we won't talk about what happened in the middle. He played a handful of games in the Venezuelan league last offseason and hit poorly; I assume he didn't get more ABs because he wasn't viewed as playable. So just getting consistent ABs would say a little something although Luisangel ran roughshod over that same league last year.- “The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire

"Lots of people want to be owners and lots of people don't realize how hard it is to be an owner. I keep telling people, it's not as easy as I thought," he said. "The owners care more about winning than making money. They're not against making money. Of course, they don't want to lose money. The obsession with winning and beating your competitors is really what drives these people who own these teams. There's nothing as satisfying as winning a championship."- Upcoming Free Agent Signing + Labor Contract Uncertainty
From Rich Dubroff of Baltimore Baseball: Rubenstein purchased a majority stake in the Orioles from the Angelos family in 2024, at a valuation of $1.725 billion. It feels obvious to say that MLB owners are making a ton of money, with the income apparently surpassing even what Rubenstein makes from The Carlyle Group private equity firm he co-founded (which drove his estimated net worth above $4 billion). Billionaires rarely buy something if they aren't going to make money from it. However, that's not the image the owners will be projecting once the likely lockout begins.- The Official Scoreboard watching thread
"You can't win this game by yourself," second baseman Brice Turang said. "You got to trust in your teammates to get it done. And if that's moving a guy over, then you move the guy over. And sometimes in trying to move them over, you drive a ball in the gap, and you end up scoring them. So you end up doing yourself a favor. So I think, when you play that way, good things happen."- Upcoming Free Agent Signing + Labor Contract Uncertainty
Online I would imagine is generally on the side of labor yes. In years past. I don’t know if the flow of online political leaning is gaining any more of the *ahem* more supply side people nowadaysYesterday

A few things haven't changed. There are still 27 outs and the team with the most runs win. While I agree with you more than most people here, (at just 10% of the time), I'm going to disagree with you here. Even back then they were using the best statistics available. They were using the best science available. Most of those guys even quit smoking in the dugouts. Baseball has been statistics driven forever. The entire fantasy sports industry started with baseball. This is an evolutionary change not revolutionary. Having guys pitching eight or nine innings like it's some silly machismo dick measuring competition is just kind of a silly waste of resources. Baseball will be really exciting when we expand rosters and platoon like football.- Schriffen: "It's been an amazing three years". Implies that them calling Sox games together is over. Could Stone be on his way out?

I won’t be upset by any of the possible winners. That’s about as good as I could’ve hoped for after the Sox lost.- Fall/Winter Ball 2026

He had a higher k rate in A+ than in AA.- 2027 Rotation
His velocity decreased quite a bit and he dropped his arm angle. I don't know if the injury was causing that or if they were tinkering and he got injured along the way.- 2027 Rotation
Yeah if he was hurt, it at least explains why he was throwing up meatballs and gives me hope that if he can get healthy, he can improve. Still don't really like the move though. - “The 78” + "The Railyard" = the future of the Sox and Fire
