  3. Right now his BABIP is at .263. Last year he was at .319 at A and A+. If his BABIP was the same as last year he would be at .310/.383/.407 line currently. I would say that is a decent line for a 2B that plays + D and runs above average.

  7. I‘ll just say this: The mental gymnastics some people are willing to do to knock Madrigal are pretty amazing.

  10. The BABIP was shown to suggest he would regress back to the mean BABIP over the course of the year and what his #s would look like. Please continue being incessantly negative with everything. It really makes this a fun place.

  18. The Twins rebuild began in 2012. That is 7 years with no playoff victories.

  19. Again, the Twins had the #1 ranked farm system in baseball in 2014. 5 years later and they have zero playoff victories to show for it. Their rebuild has been a bust so far. What they do this year and next is still to be determined.

  21. Thank god he didn’t go 4/4 by signing Machado. The organization can easily recover from misses on short term expiring contracts like Jay, Alonso, and Castillo but a miss on a $300M player is not something this organization can overcome. Would have stopped the rebuild dead in it’s tracks to have $30M per year tied up in a player that will be producing as an average regular during the Sox’ contention window.

  22. Giolito looked terrific again. Good for him. Only downer was Moncada 0-5 with three strikeouts, now down to .277. Alonzo is Adam Dunn 2.0 Both are left handers, both are making a lot of money, both usually hit under .200 and their only worth is hitting home runs. He hit one today but this is still a big mistake by Hahn unless he somehow turns things around. Maybe start going the other way to beat the shift and start raising his average?

  25. Outstanding game for Giolito! 8K, 7 IP, 1ER and totally smooth sailing since the first inning jam. McCann called a hell of a game- bringing in breaking stuff early saved the day.

  28. Coming into the season, most would have been happy if he established himself as a #5. If they can stay healthy, Cease, Kopech, Giolito, Lopez, FA, should be the second best rotation in the division next year and the Sox lineup is already far better than the Indians.

  29. Nope he was released and Preston Tucker went to Japan i think.

  30. Giolito doing what good pitchers do. Getting through the game without his good stuff until he can find it. Very impressive outing for Gio.

  31. Rain into the fence back first. I would guess he’s probably fine. He stayed on the field and finished the inning.

  39. Well, you have to give Hahn credit. He's 3 for 3, on the Manny Machado "family and friends" signings; Castillo, Alonso and Jay. None of them have justified their acquisitions, or playing time. The only good thing that has come of it, is that we didn't get Manny, for that $350 million. That could have made it 4 for 4. Manny is not going to earn all of that money, at his current pace.

  41. I loved the McCann signing from the start. Always thought he had more offensive potential than what he showed in Detroit and I liked him behind the plate. My problem with Yonder wasn't the $9 mil, it was that you were helping a division rival take $9 mil of dead money off their books. Real head scratcher. Hopefully he sits plenty so the option doesn't kick in.

  43. I'm sick of trades. We have very few quality players as it is. This ownership reminds me of the Three Stooges drilling holes in a sinking boat to let the incoming water out. Spend some friggin money on free agent difference-makers Keep Jose !!

  44. It's the 8th inning. You are down by a run. Its Runners on 1st and 2nd, nobody out. The runner on 2nd is slow but the runner on first has some wheels. You have a notorious ground ball hitter at the plate, and he doesn't necessarily have a good history of high exit velocity. He's on a cold streak, 0 for last 10. In fact, he is in the top 20% of hitters in the league who have hit into double plays for the year. It's August, so he has had plenty of ABs. He's got decent speed, despite the high double play percentage, and has15 stolen bases on the year so far. He has proven in the past that he can get the bunt down. The opposing team's pitcher is a sinkerballer with good control. ERA in the high 2s, and has thrown many DPs. The next hitter is hot and has been driving in runs like crazy, like 4 homeruns in the last 4 games with 15 RBIs. So far in the game he is 3-3 with a double and a homer, 2 rbis. Actually he is 7-10 lifetime against the sinkerballer. The 3 outs he did make were flyballs to the outfield. No one is warming in the bullpen. Plug that shit into a computer What would you do as a manager in this situation? (I read the article)

  45. Agree. I said it weeks ago, they are the biggest divisional threat to the Sox during the Sox’ anticipated contention window.
