  1. the Sox just hired Justin’s cousin, Yonder Ishbia, as a ticket sales rep.

  2. Considering the age of the Board, there’s a lot of leaking going on

  3. Yeah, hopefully the team can continue to be run by Reinsdorfs, so we can continue to enjoy all the success the team has had.

  4. Not falling for Westeddy's trolling about spring training games seems impossible for some.

  5. Bold of you to assume Robert can stay on the active roster

  6. I get the concerns about what PE firms do to some companies, but I have serious doubts that, if Ishbia were to buy the Sox, it would be comparable to a PE firm buying (for example) Red Lobster.

  7. The White Sox are a laughingstock because they have lost 222 games the last 2 seasons while they were supposed to be in their championship window with the highest payroll in the division. If you want to call a team a laughingstock based on practice games played in February, you really need some help.

  9. Yeah, even if you ignore Spring Training, dude has sucked the last 2 years.

  10. Are we seriously debating whether guys are busts based on spring training results? This is insane, guys.
    2 points
  11. Definitely looking like a bust right now. I’ve pretty much lost all optimism unless he gets moved to the pen and the stuff miraculously comes back. It’s funny that Hahn actually did some of his best work those last few months of selling and KW makes one bad trade that highlights everything wrong with the org during that era.

  12. Give him or Rojas a shot if Colson is hurt

  13. Sure this will happen a lot, but anything that happens after the 5th inning of any early spring training game can usually be taken with a grain of salt. Is Eder's fastball always that bad? I thought he threw hard.
    2 points
  14. Eder shouldn’t be anywhere near a big league roster. But yes, we will see this type a game 40 times this year

  15. Trolling should be funny. His shtick is lame and boring.

  16. I just went and looked at the game stats. Amaya has been up three times with runners in scoring position and all three times he has struck out, all three times. If the Sox lose this game by a run or two (I know it's only spring training, but still) you can squarely put the blame on the loss on Amaya's shoulders. But really, I don't think that's true. I think the blame has to go to Sox management for ever wasting the time to sign him and play him this spring. Why waste at bats that could have gone to so many more deserving and real prospects. Why did we waste a second of spring training time on Amaya?
    2 points
  17. That has to be the 9 or 10th time this spring that Amaya has been up with runners in scoring position, and he has gotten out EVERY time. Am I correct, it's happened three times alone in today's game. Just cut him. He's terrible; he was terrible last year. Cut him.

  18. Amaya, Gallo and Narvaez look really bad

  19. Have a hard time seeing Amaya make the team. He is especially bad swinging the bat. Just play Baldwin at SS at the beginning of the season.

  20. To be honest, I’d be super happy if he misses time. He doesn’t offer much if Robert is on the roster.

  21. The only caveat there is Thorpe didn’t pitch in AAA, so it’s possible they give him a bit more seasoning there if someone takes the fifth starter role and runs with it. That’s far more likely if it’s an actual prospect with upside than a swingman type. I don’t foresee that happening, but it’s possible nonetheless. I also don’t think the main five guys (Thorpe being one of them) are guaranteed roles until July. If guys don’t perform come May / June, I expect Iriarte, Adams, Nastrini, etc. to be challenging them for their starts. It’s absolutely critical this season to figure out who we think can slot into the two or three rotation spots alongside Schultz, Smith, & hopefully Taylor, who can likely hold down bullpen spots, and who should be traded to address other areas. I don’t want to it to be a complete revolving door, but we also have to let the best of the best get the shots because those will be much harder to come by next year.

  22. From what I saw, I would be shocked if Gallo makes the Sox or any other team. He looks totally cooked.

  23. Adams got tagged for two rockets, but he has legit swing and miss in his repertoire. Everytime I see him pitch I'm left with the impression he's going to have a very successful big league career.

  25. Did I miss it in this thread anywhere, but did anyone bring how well Martin pitched today, especially against a very tough set of six batters. I thought he looked outstanding, his 2nd game of the spring where he's been really good. Again, he wasn't throwing against minor league batters, but some really outstanding bats. I have to think right now (I know, only two short outings) that Martin has the inside track of being the opening day starter.

  26. Pallette? They have permanently moved him to being a reliever. I saw one article that talked about how they looked at how his arm recovers after starting vs. reliving and they felt pretty confidently the stuff was regularly with the latter.

  27. I know it was a short appearance, but Pallette with a 50% CSW rate. He’s going to be up at some point in the first of this year if I had to guess.

  28. I’m with you, but it’s hard to be optimistic about Eder right now. And I’m not a guy who typically overreacts to early season velocity or temporary drops, but him throwing 92 MPH is incredibly concerning given his challenges last year.

  30. Zero tool player. Average across the board. Zero carrying tools. Not even a poor man's Adam Frazier or India. Not even close. On Burger: Hated giving up the one fun player to watch hit and a high quality person too.

  34. Teoscar swung 3-0, also. I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.

  35. They did have plenty of their main guys playing today . Ohtani, Freeman swung 3-0 for the lone Dodger run hit it out, Teoscar, Will Smith , Muncy . 2 of their best relievers too.

  36. I wonder what this team will feel like once all the obvious garbage cut. I would cut Karinchek mid-inning.

  37. Tristan Gray maybe, Baldwin, Meidroth, Rojas, Sosa, Montgomery perhaps . Amaya just getting his turn since he's possibly their best fielder at SS.

  43. Seems like they should trade some of these guys for Robert.

  44. Why do we care? Not sure how that’s relevant to the topic at hand. If Getz doesn’t believe in Canario like 28 other GMs, then he shouldn’t give up assets for him. He’s the GM…it’s really that simple.
    1 point
  45. If they lose 120 games again you and everyone else will have their pitchforks and torches ready to go. You keep ignoring that no credible GM is going to hand 600 plate appearances to a player they don’t believe in simply because they are young. And it’s very clear Getz doesn’t believe in Canario or he would have offered something more than cash for him. And beyond the job security element that you don’t want to acknowledge, there is some value in having a few spots in the lineup with higher floor veterans. Again, I too would prefer a younger player get the opportunity in RF, but there isn’t anyone worthy of the job. A Tauchman/Slater platoon is a perfectly fine cheap placeholder until something better presents itself.
