bobby witt jr could end up on this team and this board would still be like "sigh another royal"7 points

Mostly because when we do he'd be 42 and having been released after a failed MiLB deal.4 points

I don’t think it gives him a huge financial advantage over other teams and I don’t think many others believe that either. I believe it gives him huge financial -incentive- to maintain the status quo and do very little to get better3 points

Signing Ryan O'Hearn would not be a misfit toy signing, dumpster diving or business as usual.3 points

Trade Quero and Sosa for a good young outfielder and pitching wouldn't make me super mad. However, I do like Quero a lot.3 points

Looking at the teams listed calling on Quero (Nats, Padres, Astros, Rays, Rangers) I have a hard time finding matches. If the Nats would give up Lile, I could see that. Would you take a flier on Crews? I have never been a believer. Maybe Evan Carter from Texas. Theo Gillen from Rays is a few years away. Everyone the Padres could offer is way far away. It’s easy to say, “Let’s trade Edgar, but there’s no Create A Player option. Who would you actually want for him?2 points

They cant be both die hard AND ready to show the team the door.2 points

Ask the Clippers how much they enjoyed "sharing" The Staples Center. Seriously, why do you post such ridiculous nonsense?1 point

I looked up what the Braves pay in rent at Truist Park and it's $6.1M per year. How much talent does that get you on a MLB roster? https://www.thecentersquare.com/georgia/article_db606e60-9e5e-11ec-97b6-a37e2dd445ca.html# If I'm reading this article correctly, the Brewers have paid $20M in rent total over 20 years. https://urbanmilwaukee.com/2023/12/05/governor-signs-brewers-subsidy-agreement-at-american-family-field/ Some teams, as you said, own their stadiums. While I agree that Reinsdorf has ruined the White Sox franchise, people need to drop the myth that the Rate Field sweetheart lease is giving him a huge financial advantage over other teams.1 point

I'd be onboard for trading Quero for a young MLB ready outfielder. It does feel a bit premature though, but I'd accept the logic behind it. I just really hope Getz doesn't package him with dead weight like Benny to get out from under that contract of his...1 point

Would hate to trade Quero unless we are getting back a good piece. SP or OF with some power1 point

His defense killed his Value. With ABS coming, his league worst framing won’t matter as much.1 point
-
Saying his stock is down was probably the wrong way to put it. But he has yet to reach his peak value which is probably what was meant. Doesn't matter to me because I think Quero is gonna be an all star and they'll be fools to trade him.1 point

I think he would be a decent signing. He‘s been good the last few seasons. Wouldn’t be long term and gives you someone to potentially flip later as well potentially.1 point

It wouldn’t be about replacing Quero with O’Hearn. It would be about what you get for Quero.1 point

Lots of hyperbole and nonsense in this thread like this so far.1 point

I don’t think so. He’s been pushing this letter to Jerry to interview for GM gimmick for years.1 point

Last year it was quite literally one. The only big off books source they have is parking, which isn't great when record low crowds are the case.1 point
-
I can probably count the number of teams who bring in less money than the White Sox on one hand. Poor attendance, poor TV ratings, poor RSN situation, no additional revenue streams around the ballpark except for parking fees. I'm not sure where the Sox stand as far as corporate sponsorship goes, but I'd expect them to be pretty low on the list among MLB teams.1 point

Basically a demotion. Wouldn’t be much a surprise as most Sox GM’s and coaches don’t have much success after leaving the Sox.1 point

In an act of desperation to get a middling bat into the lineup, they overpaid Benintendi in both money and years. He outlasted everybody from that short-lived window, and now he the only "veteran" bat who can contribute league average offense. Had they paid him normal, 2025 would have been his walk year. What would we be adding Naylor to?1 point

Friend who works for an NBA team in scouting. Cubs’ fans never tire of poking fun at Sox attendance…guess that helps them get over the Brewers’ series.1 point

He’s on the Crochet path. The Sox will slowly turn him into an ace just in time to trade him to a contender.0 points
