  1. The officials at the groundbreaking had to be airlifted in and out. The site is totally inaccessible. They were also wearing hazmat suits.
  2. I think he'll be up pretty quickly. I don't think Hagen develops his third pitch while throwing in the minors. There's just not enough opportunity to throw it No. He's the 2B. Acuna will basically be the every day CF. Antonacci is definitely pushing guys though. I'd be surprised if the Sox carried Lee. I'd also think Cannon gets optioned and they keep a R5 arm.
  3. I know Spring W-L doesn't mean that much but still nice to see a winning record.
  4. Cant believe someone is still mentioning that trade as if Bummer is some star.
  5. They took him on to buy Sandlin. Anything hicks provides is bonus.
  6. You need to listen to less fake news and more Joe Rogan.
  7. Jeff Cohen is spending some time on the MiLB side of Camelback:
  8. This has been reported as not a real thing multiple times.
  9. Sox winner 5-4 . Gilbert with a save. Sox record 10-7 . Royals suck .
  10. Colson 2 Run HR. 430ft ,105.9 EV 2 errors by KC. 1 by RF then the relay throw to 3rd and Sox get a little league HR on a single by Kelenic to take a 5-4 lead in the 5th.
  11. Why are we asking this question halfway through Spring Training? For years Sox fans have been begging the front office to buy prospects by taking on bad money and when we finally do so people forgot how it’s supposed to work and then jump to conclusions (bad ones no less) on the prospect. Anything we get from Hicks is pure upside…Sandlin is who will make or break the deal and we certainly need a lot more time to make any call there.
  12. Is he not allowed to have an off game?
  13. Shut it all down. We need trucks and street sweepers, can’t do this
  14. He'd be about 5 months younger than Colson was for his Kanny debut, but Colson got to play in rookie ball after the draft. Sucks that draft year rookie ball reps just isn't an option anymore.
  15. Why do we think they weren’t willing to include money in a Robert trade when they turned around and took on money to get Sandlin?
  16. Don't know the guy. Being of polish descent just know the typical names
  17. And the supremely important 1 run victory.
  18. “He’s on the team for next year!”
  19. Probably the one that just pitched for us given it’s a gamethread
  20. The pitching and offensive sides of the roster are different. The White Sox ostensibly chose to keep Lenyn Sosa over Romy Gonzalez. Let me know the next time Romy hits 22 HRs.
  21. I don’t know why I had it in my head that Murphy was some soft tosser, but I was way off.
  22. Because even though the jury's still out on the Crochet trade, we get to list it as Boston "getting the best of" the White Sox until proven otherwise.
  23. You understand we took on $17M to acquire Sandlin right? He’s our 10th ranked prospect right now per multiple publications. And it’s the type of deal that Getz and none of predecessors ever made, so not sure what you are talking about there.
  24. He's never had so much as a 1 WAR season; his 1 above average year was 2019 when he pitched 29 games. Of all the ways to spend $12.5 million (which the Sox will owe next year). It's the kind of "small" deal that Getz keeps making: it may look okay at first glance but is really far more helpful to the other team.
  25. Is he really worth $10-15 million? They also thought Kicks could get back to his St.Louis self. Sometimes you can outsmart yourself. trying to be too clever.
  26. Hicks is just awful. Waste of money
  27. This is good to see.
  28. More like not good enough minor leaguer is broke and needs a few bucks.
  29. Perhaps the most obvious OD starter choice ever, but still fun to watch them tell him. He’s going to be amped the f*** up going against the Brewers.
  30. Probably not a legitimate lawyer, either.
  31. I think his pure stuff is plenty fine for a SP and he definitely has the repertoire to back it. But he has to get back to his 2024 form for that to happen as his pure stuff regressed quite a bit last year.
  32. I don’t see Fedde as someone that the front office brought in with high hopes of rehabbing and eventually trading for something of real value. He’s a dirt cheap placeholder to buy a few weeks or months until the bigger name prospects or the TJS guys are ready for a rotation spot. Obviously they worked with him before and may feel there is a non zero chance to get him back on track, but that’s factored into his $1.5M. My point is once a better, younger option is ready, I don’t see us hesitating cutting bait on Fedde or moving him to long relief. I pray he’s out of the rotation well before July or a lot of things have likely gone wrong IMO.
  33. Didn’t see this until now, but fully agree. To me, we can either keep Lee or Mead, not both of them.
  34. He will still be a strikeout machine. The key will be is if he continues to have enough power to offset it.
  35. Yeah, there comes a time where pitchers have to learn to get MLB hitters out. His stuff is so good that minor league hitters will just swing at it. MLB hitters won't. He will walk even more during his early MLB time until he figures it out.
  36. The starting pitching is weak; Burke is going to be kept on a short leash. I think the bullpen will be respectable, especially if Dominguez can lock down the closer position. Taylor, Hicks, and Leasure could be spot closers when Domínguez's workload requires a breather.
  37. If they keep Lee on the roster, that means they want to put Teel and Quero at DH on their catching off days. That makes Benintendi useless. Sosa also has to play as often as possible. The other thing about Pope's guess is that the outfield has 4 OFs, two of which will back up the infield, and one of which they want to primarily DH. I don't believe they're going to eat 2 years of Benintendi's salary. Lee and Mead both have to be raking to make the roster. I'd say one of Lee or Mead has to go to make room for Kelenic or Pereira. I'd expect Pereira to open the season on the IL. I suppose in a perfect world, they'd cut Benintendi, trade Lee, then roster Kelenic and Hill (or Pereira if he's fit).
  38. LaMond Pope writes up the positional and pitching battles shaping up in camp Chicago White Sox: Who will make the opening-day roster His guess: Rotation - RHP Shane Smith, LHP Anthony Kay, RHP Davis Martin, RHP Sean Burke, RHP Erick Fedde Bullpen - Newcomb, Murphy, Vasil, Cannon, RHP Grant Taylor, RHP Jordan Leasure, RHP Jordan Hicks, RHP Seranthony Domínguez C - Kyle Teel, Edgar Quero, Korey Lee IF - Munetaka Murakami, Chase Meidroth, Colson Montgomery, Miguel Vargas, Lenyn Sosa, Curtis Mead OF - Andrew Benintendi, Austin Hays, Brooks Baldwin, Luisangel Acuña
  39. Here at the game. Don’t know anything about him but that Alberto dude has something. Tall as s%*#, great extension and velocity, solid off speed offering.
  40. I don’t think McDougal will be down very long.
  41. Thanks Mr Obvious, you're a lifesaver!
  42. I try! I use my stuff today for larger fantasy baseball leagues/tournaments. My pitching stuff has been better than my position player side. I Anchor my position player side to some public models, and on the pitching side I have a lot more player-level customs than any of the public models would, but it's worked for me so I don't Anchor it.
  43. That was a 5/1 roster projection. 6/1 or 7/1 seems much more likely…or at least possible. Same with Braden…but still rushing him a bit.
  44. The only way you dump Benny is if you take on another bad contract in return. If he was a free agent, what kind of deal would he get? Looking at his offensive numbers and adding to it he is borderline unplayable in LF for a team with aspirations, would he even get a true major league deal? Dude is a replacement play who can't play defense. He doesn't hit enough to hide at DH or 1B. Cut him and move on. He's a waste of space for the White Sox.
