  1. Going to guess losing game 7 of the World Series hurt a little more.
  2. Obviously Ozzie isn't getting this honor without his managerial run, but I think sabermetrics have really validated his playing career. Defensive stats for the old days aren't perfect, but they have peak Ozzie Guillen as a defender producing a similar level of value that Ozzie Smith did at the peak of his powers. They don't make too many players like that anymore but he was a really good player for a pretty good stretch.
  3. IMO a significant storyline of 2025 was Vargas showing that he was good enough with the glove to play 3B in MLB. Where exactly he'd be on the spectrum from below average to above average, not so clear. But definitely good enough if he had reasonable offense.
  4. I'm not an Acuna fan but I'm surprised people are like "OMG we could have gotten Vientos!". Guy is 26 with one solid season under his belt two years ago and is arbitration eligible next season. He'd be swapping CF Robert for 3B/1B Robert. At least Acuna is younger and can maybe possibly play CF.
  5. When I say Wrigley is overrated, I admit that it's my Sox fan bias showing. I realized long ago that most people outside of our fan base think seeing a game at Wrigley is a great experience, especially after the Ricketts renovated the place.....and that the "we Sox fans are right and the rest of the world is wrong" and the "people hate Rate Field because the world is against the White Sox" point of view isn't very sensible or realistic. If Ishbia does pay to get a new ballpark built, and does it right, can you imagine Chicago having both a Petco-like or PNC-like ballpark with the skyline as a backdrop as well as the iconic ballpark on the North Side both within the city limits? That would be great for the city. It might even help take some of the sting of the Bears moving to Arlington Heights.
  6. They want to get him innings for a possible transition to starting next year. I suspect the plan was for him to pitch into the 2nd today, but his first inning was so quick that they decided to just keep him available for tomorrow instead.
  7. Repurpose those t-shirts. Scrape off everything after "South Side Sam..."
  8. The right play is if it dont think you have to come off the bag you don't especially on a low throw. Youre liable to have the runner fly right by you or break your hand, wrist or arm as it reaches among the legs flying by. I just dont see any of it being Munes fault (or even partially his fault for thinking he could have salvaged that throw). Make a good throw and the inning's over.
  9. He was used as a pinch hitter!
  10. It's been a long time since a guy named Peters did good things for the Sox and Gary Peters was a pretty good hitting picher.
  11. Appropriate the Canadian walks off the Blue Jays. Good for Peters.
  12. This got a rare real life laugh-out-loud from me.
  13. You play a competitive game and sometimes you end up on the right side of it. Bad things don't always have to happen.
  14. Hey, does anybody know what the White Sox record is in one-run games? I hear those are really important.
  15. It's baseball baby. It resists your narratives because of the overwhelming truth that s%*# happens
  16. Derek Hill being arguably the fastest guy in the league didn't hurt
  17. This team is bipolar. Jeebus.
  18. Sign Peters for 3/$110M!!!!
  19. That was actually a brilliant baseball IQ play with the new catcher coming in cold.
  20. Derek Hill secret weapon!!! Sox just the better coached, more fundamental team IMO :D
  21. He should be at DH with Sosa at 1B but NO WE HAVE TO TROT OUT BENI. f*** THIS TEAM f*** THIS FRANCHISE f*** YOU JR
  22. This team is hitting like .115 with RISP and even less against bullpens.
  23. I like how schriff said “runner goes” like it is shocking with a full count and two outs.
  24. Stop assuming Venable has any clue what he’s doing
  25. Sox pitching coach looks like he is in witness protection. Guess this is a good place to hide him.
  26. Annoying thing about this opener business is it didn't really buy Burke any platoon advantage and now we don't have our best reliever available to protect this two-run lead late.
  27. then explain… literally everything else about this organization.
  28. 2 points
Home opener, 4 MILB games -- the season has truly begun!
  29. Stretch out Taylor you dumb monkeys.
  30. I think my issue is that yet again we are sticking a guy in the outfield and asking him to figure it out. Meidroth isn’t exactly tearing it up right now, and wasn’t GREAT last season. Let the best man play the position that he knows best
  31. I think JR actually does appreciate it. The problem is that appreciation is focused only on the Brooklyn Dodgers.
  32. If there's one sport that has nostalgia woven into its fabric, it's baseball. That's something that I never thought Jerry and Eddie really appreciated after they bought the White Sox. Its stadiums are rather unique among major sports too as the dimensions of each ballpark is different and you potentially have an impressive backdrop that can be viewed from many of the seats and even from the playing field.
  33. Antonacci is a top 100 prospect in BA's update.
  34. Roch Cholowsky will be the first Sox $100 million contract if Isbia has any say in it at all....
  35. They are doing it in suburban Atlanta. The South Loop can handle it.
  36. I think our drafting team of Shirley et al has gotten a huge pass through all of this. Their accomplishments: Crochet - but that was Hahnber looking for a reliever; Taylor - a reliever; perhaps a great one in time, but not yet. Burke and Canon - 5th starters at best, thusfar. Montgomery - looked good last September; not so far in 2026. And in both years Ks way too much. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone but that's not a lot of production Yea, we've got a system that he drafted ranked 10-15; but the draft positions have been high as well.
  37. I thought it would have been best to keep Robert. He's better than any outfielder they have now. If he would have had a good first half he could have been moved for more than what they received from the Mets. This trade for Acuna could turn out as bad as the Cease trade with the Padres.
  38. Used to do this with just the lefty specialists. Now they're going after Toronto's RH hitters like Guerrero Okamoto etc.
  39. 1 point
He shall be available for the pennant race down the stretch
  40. Gotta say hate listening to him is one of the few enjoyments of the games for me. It’s like they gave Ned Flanders the job. I want him to fail every moment.
  41. One encouraging note is Acuna’s bat speed is way back up, and that’s not something that needs a large sample size. Didn’t know where else to post this.
  42. He batted .105, I wouldn’t exactly call that murder. Not mad at all if they call him up, I’d wait til we can retain a year of control though.
  43. He really struggled in the WBC after the homer
  44. No point in murdering AAA pitching after he did it on the big stage of the WBC.
  45. The right move would be the DFA Benintendi as he just isn't a very good player and is a DH only who is a liability when put in the field. You can more roster flexibility with that move. There are plenty of nobodies on this roster who you could get rid of and it wouldn't hurt in the slightest, so it would be pretty hard to make the wrong move here.
  46. Agreed. He could have just called his homers “Mune Shots”, rather than coming up with this lame nickname — “And that’s another Mune Shot for Murakami!” It would definitely be wittier than a played out Japanese reference. Obviously, it is a legitimate historical reference to Japan but it’s just too much of a stereotype these days. It would be like if we had a Chinese player named Kim and Schriffen called him “Kung Fu Kim”. It’s a bit in poor taste to overgeneralize one historical fact and apply it to anyone of that ethnicity, as if it’s all they are known for. It’s definitely a pretty cringeworthy nickname and I would hope Schriffen checked with Murakami through his translator to see if he was okay with it at the very least.
  47. Why do I picture Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino?
