  1. How many first round picks were sent a higher level team? Looking at the top picks, narrowing even for guys who played in college this year: Casey Mize hasn't played yet. Joey Bart is at a half season low A team Alec Bohm is at a half season low A team Johnathan India is in rookie ball That makes Madrigal at the highest level out of all of the top five picks, as he is playing at a full season low A team.

  2. Actually it does. All you have to do is look at his behavior with regard to the Mueller investigation and what happened in Helsinki yesterday and it tells you all you need to know. If he wasn't president and was instead under investigation for murder and had the same behaviors he'd be viewed as guilty as sin. All of the evidence points to him being guilty of collusion at the very least. The only reason why Mueller hasn't come out with it yet is because it is the POTUS and it has to be a slam dunk case. I have zero doubt that he's going to find everything he needs because Trump is a moron. What is laughable is that you keep denying it. Where's that dog in the burning house meme again? The only way "facts and evidence" don't lead to the previous conclusion is if you're listening to hacks like Hannity and Rush, who are so far up Trumps ass they can taste his lunch. You're approaching that territory. I hope you like McDonald's. Everyone is lying except Trump and his apologists. Nobody is to be trusted other than Donald Trump and Vladmir Putin. Ok.

Makes coming here so much easier than scouring the web. I also encourage others to trophy those members who provide things like this just as a courtesy. All it takes is a click as we get used to the new board. I know I appreciate a thanks every now and then as encouragement and it's such a nice thing to do that takes so little time.

  8. I mean, we know that the Russia investigation started because George Papadopolous, a Trump campaign foreign policy adviser, told Australia's top US diplomat that Russia had dirt on Hillary Clinton. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/30/us/politics/how-fbi-russia-investigation-began-george-papadopoulos.html We also know that Russia did in fact hack the DNC - the US intelligence community is unanimous in that assessment, and Mueller details it in pretty exhausting detail in the latest indictments. The full text of the indictment is available at the link below. https://www.vox.com/2018/7/13/17568806/mueller-russia-intelligence-indictment-full-text So, the Russia thing started in May of 2016. Russia did in fact attempt to influence the election to favor Trump over Clinton. And the investigation into the extent of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia remains ongoing... Now, what "Russia stuff" are you not buying?

  9. Of course he's going to be highly scrutinized, he's the main player the White Sox got for a pitcher who, after tonight, has started three consecutive All-Star games and has been a perennially contender for the Cy Young award for the better part of a decade. That said, I think it's likely that the people who are posting most frequently is the main thing that's changing when he struggles or is hot is who is posting. There seems to be a skeptical group and an optimistic group, and the one that posts more will vary based on his recent results.

  11. Sorry dude, we're just "telling it like it is" If it is ok for Trump to do that(IYO), then it is ok for us to do that. No double standards. Just like when Hillary called Trump supporters a basket of deplorables. Oh, I'm sorry. Bill Clinton getting a blowjob in the Oval Office was an impeachable offense, but paying a porn star to keep her mouth shut during a campaign isn't? That's right. the GOP is the party of double standards. If a Dem does something, it is the end of the world but if a GOP member does it, it is nobody's business. So much for the party of moral high grounds and traditional values. Also, quit making excuses for a traitor.

  13. I know people are down due to all the injuries, but there's a flipside to keep track of too. Some guys are breaking out, and none more so than one Jimmy Lambert. Rob (southside hitman) dives deep into how Jimmy got here, with quotes, and paints a picture of an arm that White Sox fans should start keeping track of.

  15. Or Singer. At least if we drafted Singer we could have a sewing circle thread. Nope, we just had to draft the one of the best overall bats in the draft. Talk about draft suicide. My gawd we suck! Fuck it, I blame Kenny.

  16. This. I think he gets wrung up on borderline pitches at a remarkable rate. If he starts to get even just the most questionable of those, it could have a snowball effect.

  17. Yea similar talent but Yoan has way more power in that bat. That said, if Yoan has the career Durham had that would be awesome. Ray was a great player. Hall of very good type.

  24. For my two cents, it would involve the Dodgers sending a player with a big salary plus a big prospect in order to free up luxury tax cap space. If we are talking White Sox and Dodgers for example, it could look something like Matt Kemp + Christian Santana for another Jake Peter type prospect to LAD. Sox take on a ton of cash this year (Kemp at $21m for this year, prorated though) , plus free up a spot for the Dodgers to make room for salary this year for Manny Machado (Machado at 16m, but prorated from the completion of a trade) to keep them from going over the luxury tax # this season. Also opens up a spot for a guy someone to go the OF, while Machado takes over an IF spot. NO IDEA if this works perfectly or not, but just a demonstration of an example that could work in theory. Definitely don't know either teams interest in a deal like this.

  26. But honestly, why wouldn't the Orioles take a vet back if it meant more prospects? They already have budgeted the money, and they are going to need all the help they can get.

  27. I would think if another really good prospect was coming with a bad contract, the Orioles would just take it. I don't see a 3rd team being involved.

  34. For the record too, note that I did not bring up the Mueller investigation or collusion. In fact I'm pretty confident that Trump himself was not part of any collusion. I think some of his close campaign folks MIGHT have been, but Trump himself would have been shielded from it. Trump was of course giddy when he had Russia trying to help him because helping him is good, but I don't think they find any direct collusion. Just my guess. This is not about the Mueller investigation. This is about Trump's stunning level of incompetence, and his treating our friends like enemies while cozying up to some really awful people.

  36. raBBit, I think I made pretty clear that my problem was not with the idea of a US President trying to improve relations with Russia. No one is saying not to do that, so, let's drop that straw man. You are 100% aware of what people are upset about, and it isn't the idea of the two leaders meeting to talk, so stop with that game. I can't get my head around the idea that any American can be OK with Trump, while standing next to the leader of a country who have provably and by all accounts been trying to undermine the US in any way possible (including elections), undercutting his own intelligence agencies. It is inexcusable, even if he does disagree with some of their assessments. It is inexcusable not just because it lacks patriotism, which isn't the point either. It telegraphs to the world that the US is incapable of operating in a complex foreign policy environment. How could you possibly think that is OK? Secondarily, it also makes Trump look even more inept as a leader (though frankly the world already see him as a joke anyway). These are agencies he manages, run by people he nominated, and he's out there saying they are wrong about one of their most important focuses. If that's true (which it's pretty clearly not, but let's play along anyway), then Trump is a useless leader! Nothing in this makes Trump look competent, at all. Finally, just to destroy yet another strawman, no. No, Obama, or Bush or Clinton or Bush or Reagan, would not have been feted or celebrated for doing what Trump did. They would be crucified, and rightly so. How do I know this? Simple - none of those previous Presidents ever did anything like this, because... it is 100% idiotic to do so. They wouldn't have. If it were actually true that they would be celebrated for it, then they would have done it, because all these guys have huge egos. Think it through, man.

Because Mitch McConnell protected Donald Trump's deal with the Russians and said that if they tried to release a statement about the Russian attack he'd make it a partisan issue. http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2016/12/10/mitch_mcconnell_prevented_stronger_action_against_russian_election_meddling.html https://nypost.com/2018/03/04/mcconnell-watered-down-response-to-russian-meddling-ex-obama-official/ https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2018/01/24/580171396/biden-mcconnell-refused-to-sign-bipartisan-statement-on-russian-interference https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/obama-orders-review-of-russian-hacking-during-presidential-campaign/2016/12/09/31d6b300-be2a-11e6-94ac-3d324840106c_story.html?postshare=7111481335261119&utm_term=.c9ab6a714070 https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/02/mitch-mcconnell-russian-asset.html https://www.npr.org/2018/02/21/587614043/fact-check-why-didnt-obama-stop-russia-s-election-interference-in-2016 Harry Reid also sent a letter to James Comey begging Comey to make a public statement about the existence of that investigation, and Comey refused.

  43. It boggles my mind that a hardcore fan (who really likes Jose and watches him) could watch him every day for the last month and think he's contributing to winning. You don't need a spreadsheet for that. Jose has looked quite a bit like Konerko circa 2013. A guy that can no longer cover the inside corner and is completely screwed as a result. I love Jose Abreu but he's been worthless this year. Don't even get me started on his defense.

  45. There are only 2 DL's in the minors. Usually they go on the 7-day, which has a minimum of 7 days but can go any number beyond that. The other is the 60-day, which they only use for players who will assuredly be out for basically the full season. It is not used often.

  47. The All Star game is when the best players from the National League and the same from the American League play each other for 1 game. This year it is being played in Washington, DC.. There are festivities such as the Futures Game which was Sunday, The HR Derby and Celebrity Softball game.. It's a 4 day break in the schedule of all teams. I'd use google for anything else. The All Star game has an amazing history.
