  1. I would sign Nimmo to play RF (and also a capable backup in CF) I would re-sign Andrus if a 1 year deal works with him (play him mostly at 2B, but nice to have a capable backup at SS too, which they did not have before). Would Conforto be getting a 1 year “prove it” type deal? He’d be good in LF, but not sure I’d go multi year at this point. Backup option could be Joc Pederson. Nimmo RF Anderson SS Robert CF Jimenez DH Vaughn 1B Conforto/Pederson LF Moncada 3B Grandal / Zavala (or FA defense first C) Andrus 2B Bench: Pollock OF, Romy Gonzalez, Leury, Try and trade Sheets in a package with other prospects for a decent 4-5th starter: Cease, Kopech, Lynn, Giolito, above trade or Davis Martin (could add more impact at deadline if team is good) Bullpen; no changes except Crochet returns.
  2. I tend to agree here. This division is still bad. The Sox had major injuries from ST thru Sept and still right in the race until the end. The Guardians literally made it this far with almost zero injuries of consequence. (Sure a couple back end starters went down, but that’s about it). As badly as this season went we could easily see many of the following take place and be right back in the 92+ wins territory: 1) New Manager makes a difference / team that comes into season more hungry and less arrogant 2) Slight rebound by Giolito 3) More games for Eloy as strictly DH 4) Improved Kopech taking a step to a solid #2-3 type starter 5) More games played by Robert and TA 6) Vaughn continues to improve and adds even more power My concerns for 2023 is the bullpen (lots of age there).. and finding a way to improve the defense enough while not hurting the offense too much. All assuming payroll doesn’t increase. I don’t see a WS contender, but this division is still very winnable the next couple years.
  3. To me I feel like it doesn’t matter to me. Which is weird that I don’t 100% care if my team makes the playoffs. If they do, they likely don’t advance far but it would be fun to see what happens. If they don’t then they just would get what they deserve and hopefully that means major changes considering the rebuild time and large payroll. I did vote no playoffs though, because I hated this season and absolutely can’t have any of this nonsense again in 2023
  4. Yep. We have a young stud DH here, just don’t get greedy and think he can also play outfield. I am also ok telling him to chill on the bases.. can never completely avoid injury risk, but I feel good that if he stays at DH and doesn’t try to leg out hustle doubles or score from 1st on a ball in the gap, etc that he can stay relatively healthy and put up huge numbers.
  5. Why are so many people defending Giolito? The A’s have a historically bad offense and he gave up 3 Runs and just looks like he has nothing on the mound. 90-91 4 seam fastball that he can’t locate especially well change up doesn’t get swing and miss anymore and doesn’t throw them for strikes often (for good reason) slider is very average and unless he throws it in the perfect spot it’s definitely not a put away pitch. Any above average, playoff type offense would absolutely demolish him so fast. He cannot be allowed to face the Guardians as those 4 games are critically important, rotation needs to be adjusted so that Cease gets 2 of those 4 games. HELL of a win! Best of the season!
  6. No. Romy or Sosa (most likely Romy) should get 2B to start 2023 and bat them 9th. Save the $$ for legit right fielder and a mid rotation starting pitcher. If Romy/Sosa really suck, then address at trade deadline.
  7. Menechino is on record saying the approach is to hit fastballs opposite way and pull breaking balls. most HR hitters in MLB are looking for fastballs in the zone to turn on, or hanging breaking pitches. it’s a bad approach the Sox are being guided toward
  8. This certainly didn’t go according to Jerry’s plan, did it? Hire his buddy… spend $190+ million overseen by a couple of idiots and finish below .500 in the worst division in baseball. Hahahah…
  9. My personal requirements to give a fuck next year are: new front office - let them hire new manager/coaching staff & retool roster as they see fit. payroll must not decrease to fix the shit mess jerry caused. anything else and I F off (…until they start off the season 10-3 or something)
  10. I’ve never seen a team look like they were begging for a new manager as much as this team in this season. I wonder where they’d be if they pulled the plug on Tony back during the Rangers/Dodgers home stand earlier in the season. I imagine 90% of the other organizations would have fired him then, if only to attempt to change the culture and desperately try to salvage a very valuable season.
  11. I was a fan of the early extensions, but there is something to be said about them. Without them would some of these guys show up in better shape for spring training? Would they play with more urgency? I’ts human nature. But, Here’s how I rank the current problems: 1) INJURIES - some of this is bad luck, some of it is trying to play guys in the wrong positions. But the fact that our core of TA, Robert, Eloy, Abreu, Moncada, Grandal have played 20ish games together since 2021 started is problem #1. No telling where we’d be with better health. 2) Hiring TLR - everyone knew it was a bad fit and a joke of a hire the minute it was rumored. No real surprise it’s played out that way. Lack of energy and litany of in game blunders has cost the team. 3) Embarassing excuse of an offseason. Houston showed all the weaknesses and they did zero to address them. They didn’t even trade redundant/blocked players like Sheets, Burger, etc that could have possibly brought in a useful reliever or 2, or a better utility outfielder, etc. instead they spent more $$ on injured guy in Kelly and extended Leury and signed Harrison. Inexcusable to enter a World Series season depending on Keuchel, Velasquez, and Innings limit Kopech.
  12. It’s true… and this is what makes 2022 white Sox such torture lol.
  13. Yeah, I can’t get on board.. they realistically need to go 24-14 rest of the way and they’ve shown no signs of a run like that at all. (Missing Kopech now too). The lack of urgency the first 3 months of season really come into play this time of year. They would need to show me the consistent ability to score 5-6+ runs a game for a week straight before I get pulled back in.
  14. This rebuild is quickly moving towards a failure. World Series is further away now than it was last year for sure. Young core either isn’t improving/regressing or simply cannot stay healthy for several months at a time. A lot of this is just bad luck.. the prospects they got just happened to be injury prone guys. Not being on the field for 145+ games a year will slow development for sure. Veteran free agent signings have mostly been huge misses or very replaceable level signings - nothing of major impact outside of Hendriks and Cueto (Graveman has been solid, and I guess Lynn has been okay? But not really). Then you have the manager hire that hijacked the whole thing. I’m sure we will learn much more in the future how badly this effected the club in a negative way… Only hope we have is to just write this nightmare 2022 season off. Best case scenario is: 1) the coaching staff and maybe even GM are fired 2) players come into next season in better shape, more to prove, and actual hunger and we get good seasons from talented guys like Moncada, Robert, Eloy, Vaughn, Anderson, Giolito, Grandal 3) Better luck with injuries 4) Hope payroll doesn’t have to decrease.
  15. Can’t watch this trash anymore. But reminder: this organization planned to have Keuchel, Velasquez and innings limit Kopech make up 60% of the rotation in a “world series or bust” year. Clean fucking house
  16. Looks like a good list to me
  17. This is the most annoying part of this horrible season for me too. It’s just shockingly pathetic that they didn’t attempt to change things up with manager change, hitting coach change… Something. And completely inactive trade deadline just added to the annoyance.
  18. Can’t we get this to at least head down the same path as the Bulls? They brought in guys from the outside, hired a competent head coach and started building a team that at least makes a little sense. I’m sure the same can be done with Sox
  19. Imagine how empty that ballpark will be next year if either of these things happen: 1) TLR is brought back 2) They don’t add even more payroll for 1 year to clean up this mess until Grandal, Lynn, Kelly, Pollock, etc come off books
  20. I just don’t understand trying a new hitting coach 2 months ago… they just continue to assume things will just fix themselves magically. These guys are mentally screwed up…
  21. They seem fucking terrified to be at the plate with runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. 100% need a run there, really awful
  22. Hopefully Lucas doesn’t suck… my sense is he will suck though
  23. I need a lot more Zavala and a lot less Yaz the remainder of this season
