  1. I hope Jose is up to the challenge tonight. Obviously, every game from this point on is huge. But I think it's very important for the psyche of the team to get off to a good start this month. Hopefully Jose can have a 03 like September.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 07:48 AM) Well, the Red Sox got better because they picked up Graffanino. He's not a stud, but he definitely is fitting in better for them than Bellhorn, last I heard. The Yankees got better somehow with Chacon and Small, a guy from their own organization. The Angels got better by actually getting Vlad back at some point during the season. The A's got Payton and that pitcher from the Rockies (though I'm not sure how well he's performed for them). And an argument could be made that the White Sox only got worse this year with the loss of Thomas, and it shows in their mediocre to terrible play in the last 50 games. The Red Sox and Yankees also have pitching problems. The A's are suspect in the pitching department after Zito and Harden. And Harden is not 100% healthy from what I hear. Even with Vlad, the Angels offense is no better than ours. Do the Sox have problems/questions? Yes. But so does every other team.
  3. We need to start to establish some dominance at home again. 10 of our next 11 games are at the Cell. You would think a prerequisite of any true "contending" team is to be able to take care of business at home.
  4. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 06:01 AM) I would like to believe the callups will provide the Sox a spark to help them surge through the last month and pull away from Cleveland and the others. But... Don't all the other teams now have their "sparks" too, and thus it is all really a zero-net-gain? SFF Who cares about the other teams. Most of them aren't playing for anything anyway. We need a shot in the arm from someone. I'm thinking Brian Anderson.
  5. Let this be a lesson learned by Kenny. Adress as many, if not all of your weaknesses during the off-season.
  6. Buehrle, Garland, and Hernandez all get the snot beat out of them, yet, it's B-MAC who comes through when we so desperately need it. Go figure.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) Time to forget August and kick ass in september. You got that right. This is moment of truth time. We're gonna definitely find out in the next few weeks what this team is all about.
  8. Damn! What happend to Casey's batting average? Wasn't he hitting in the .330's not too long ago?
  9. We just need an offensive spark from somebody, anybody.
  10. Pretty good article to me. What's the problem? This team has been horses*** for the last 6 weeks. We've lost close to 9 games off our division lead since Aug 1st. Our offense has sucked major ass for a while now. Kenny wasn't able to make one move to upgrade the offense. Buehrle was being a little ho in making a silly claim such as a good hitting team like the Rangers stealing signs. Ariticle was dead on to me.
  11. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) heat are gonna be too damn good this year, just give em the championship Not if the Pacers, Pistons, and especially the Spurs have anything to say about it. Man, the Spurs were the favorites before adding Exel and Finley. Now, it's basically a wrap.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) Would you care to make a wager? He's in a cast, if the best case scenerio occured and he was able to get the cast off in a couple weeks, that would leave him with 2 weeks until the playoffs to get strength back into the area, and get sharp enough hitting to where he actually could contribute. He wouldn't be able to take a minor league rehab assignment, since the minor league season will be over. There was the same pipe dream that he and Maggs would possibly return last year. It isn't going to happen, its not realistic. Good points.
  13. We need this one today. It would be nice to end a rather s***ty month with a win.
  14. I'd love to have Walker. But as a back-up?
  15. The chances of Buehrle or Garland winning the Cy-Young has shot up significantly.
  16. What happen to Cunningham? He hasn't been in the Kanny line-up since Monday.
  17. I'll chip in a quarter.
  18. We really need this one. We need to win a series again. Big confidence booster going into Seattle.
  19. Damn Rowand. I didn't know you were that damn young. Happy birthday, bro!
  20. QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) This was expected. If he didn't do well out of the gate he would have been a bust. What is it with people all over (positive or negative) prospects in their first year. Why would he have been a bust if he didn't do well right away?
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) That Johnson guy is no slouch either. Hell of a way to make you major league debut. Indeed.
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) I cannot comprehend a scenario where I'd even consider uttering this phrase. I have to admit. I enjoyed watching the Yankees from 96-2000. They were an actual team then.
  23. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) I'd rather Gload be on the post-season roster than Anderson. Anderson doesn't really look too comfortable against the really good pitchers. JMO. 13 at bats isn't really enough of a sample size to judge Anderson yet. I mean, not too many guys hit Radke and Santana well.
  24. I think I'm gonna hurl.
