If you want the Hollywood version of the Black Sox scandal watch the movie Eight Men Out.

Lillian had the idea that Eloy could become the Sox 1st baseman relatively quickly if he doesn't pan out in the outfield. If Basabe Robert and Rutherford all end up looking good Abreu and AVi could get traded but right now need to stick with Abreu because all 3 of those guys still have a long road to stardom in MLB.

It's time to talk about the Sox young pitching
I did say RIGHT NOW things look bleak so I could answer Giolito's problems, No Rodon or Hansen , Burdi's injury. Fulmer's struggles, Fry the only young reliever on the team and yes right now Kopech's last 2 starts . Some of these things will improve quickly or in weeks. Kopech had a bad month last year in June then after that was lights out.

It's time to talk about the Sox young pitching
I've been saying all along that failure rates and injuries will take their toll on the young pitching to those who think the whole staff will come from the prospects and I am as positive as you can be about giving pitchers the time necessary to develop. So yea right now things look bleak but really what did you expect ? It's YOUNG pitching. DUH. Use some common sense people . Expecting great things from prospects is wonderful but no one should be shocked when they don't live up to expectations especially until they reach about 25 years old. These things have been a constant in baseball for a long time. Expecting the Sox to keep escaping injuries and development time and having all prospects on the staff is just not and never will be realistic.

Should I be excited about Sox/Pirates
Oh trust me I love when the Sox win and I cancelled my DirectV baseball package this year because I just don't get as involved watching losses but if you go with your family or have young children you HAVE to make the experience more important than the game itself. If the game itself sucks you take the kids around the park as part of the whole experience. Plenty of ways to make the experience more enjoyable.

Should I be excited about Sox/Pirates
Just enjoy your favorite team and being with your family and the whole experience. Winning is secondary, Stay positive and don't fret about what you can't control. If they win, great, if not, it's part of the plan.

Yep and I made that point earlier in the thread but I didn't list the PA for one of his stops because my computer was acting stupid and I wanted to add it but browser was freezing up and pages taking too long to load. I'm still kind of pissed this thread went sideways when in the Future Sox thread no one was given any grief about a call up this year for Eloy. Rabbit was like the 1st one to say it and some of the same guys yucking it up in this thread and painting many of us with a broad brush were in that thread but didn't have the stones to say anything then, But once the sharks smell blood they all join in the feeding frenzy.

Yea I don't know how this got so out of hand. Only the OP wanted Eloy brought up now. Then a good writer makes a comparison that isn't really accurate and pretends there's a whole herd of us that are anti rebuild and furious. Contrast whats going on in this thread with the thread in Future Sox for the May 9th games and it's pretty much the same thing which is it's time for a bunch of guys to advance to the next level including Eloy moving up to AAA. It makes no sense to keep arguing this because the " keep Kopech and Eloy down on the farm till next year" crowd has annointed that post as gold when in actuality it addresses very few people here. Most of us are just saying bring them up when they are ready and that might be this year, All I can say at this point is we'll see how it plays out.Keeping them down because of service time isn't the only consideration at play here even if it is very important but so is rewarding those players if they really force the issue and getting ready for signing some free agents by carrying some momentum and possibly creating a some buzz going into next year. But if you haven't read that Future Sox thread from 5/9 start on page 2. Some of the most respected guys on Soxtalk are talking about and thinking Eloy could be up in July/August and I didn't see one person in that thread calling them out for it.

Yeah great post except there are very few anti rebuilding and furious that we are bad people here. There are a few but most of us just question the front offices' track record when it comes to putting a FINISHED product on the field when the rebuild is supposed to, ya know, actually be finished. Exactly

Or perhaps you were not clear enough since called up usually means to the big leagues and instant gratification is a term that means, well ,right away. The Kopech speculation was just people letting their imaginations run wild. The more reasonable of us including me rebuffed that notion pretty strongly. Whether you like it or not Kopech and JImenez will be called up at some point this year unless they both start sucking very soon or get injured. It's just a matter of when. Will that then be considered instant gratification by the front office ?

10 Market inefficiencies for White Sox to exploit
These 2 posts pretty much say everything when it comes to signing big name free agents. Most want 2 things to win a World Series and money. Someone like Hosmer already won his. Being terribly bad going into this crucial period isn't exactly ideal, nor is having a long tradition of losing, sparse crowds and no history of spending big money and egomaniacs running the front office with their own history of losing, bad history of drafting and developing talent who are way too comfortable in their jobs.

Ok please be fair yes most of us said this year but your original post just said called up and instant gratification. No we don't want him called up (right now) for instant gratification we we want him to go to AAA and come up when/if he mashes there. That isn't instant gratification that is reasonable for us, the players on the team now and any potential free agents to get a glimpse of the future and mostly to Eloy because he will deserve it.

Just think in a year you will be the resident expert in the UK on baseball besides any transplanted Americans there who actually like baseball,

Could Palka be the White Sox Schwarber?
According to google translate it means salary in Estonian , Lithuanian and Latvian. In Bosnian, Polish.Slovenian and Macedonian it means stick.. In Bulgarian it means baton. In Czech it mean bat. In Indonesian and Sudanese it means hold. I think the message is clear.
