  1. Luis Robert comes up lame the last week of Spring Training, who plays CF?
  2. I know he has supposedly improved defensively, but why not sign a guy most likely cheaper, who pitchers love to throw to? I though the Sox could use a guy like Barnhart earlier. Stolen bases are about to become more prevalent, he would have been a better use of resources than Sanchez. It has to be BS.
  3. There obviously is time to make moves, but to me, I don’t know why fans should be excited. They weren’t good enough last year, lost their best player and leader, and at least 3rd best starter for nothing. Replaced the starter with a more expensive question mark. Signing Benitendi seems good, but I hope they really don’t think he’s the savior for which they are making him . Pedro has to be better than Tony, I ll give them that, but relying on the rest of the roster to remain healthy let alone have big time bounce back seasons? How baked is Hahn?
  4. A quote which will live in infamy. BTW, the big market White Sox mlb.com beat writer referred to Benintendi as a whale. I guess the seat has been removed.
  5. I don't think these will get snatched up as fast most nights. It's not a location upgrade for most. And for those it is, a $13 beer may be a little more than they want to spend.
  6. I don't know how it will translate to baseball, but it looks like a pretty intense exercise to me.
  7. I don’t think he would have been back. He had the pacemaker all last season. Now it’s an issue that can’t be dealt with? They said he had another issue. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was cognitive. There was a big difference difference between Tony’s postgame press conferences in 2021 and 2022 and 2011. im sure even JR realized Tony wasn’t the guy they needed last season.
  8. Both the Mets and Twins were willing to guarantee 6 years. Usually with the free agent whales who arent pushing 40, any production the last couple of years is gravy if you have any chance of landing them. So I'm thinking Correa probably looks like he has 3 or 4 more productive years left before the arthritis becomes a problem.
  9. Bob did write the Twins wanted him to take a physical before they began to negotiate again.
  10. I read something where the Bears were under some threshold and have to spend more money this off-season than any team has in an off season in NFL history.
  11. I think with a few decent players, next year they should be decent. They lost a lot of games they were in. A pass rusher, a receiver, a couple of decent lineman, maybe they win those games. But I do agree, they need multiple first round picks next year. I personally think they should at least think about moving on from Fields. I think he nets more than the #1 pick. Then you wind up with a guy who may be better, will be cheap for a few years, and probably multiple first rounders for Fields. But I would understand why they wouldn't take the gamble.
  12. Could you get what Houston got for Watson for Fields? Draft a QB1, trade Fields for 3 firsts, and a couple of more picks. Reset the QB rookie contract.
  13. The good news is this has a high rate of survival.
  14. Cancer is fucked up. Thoughts are with him and his family Hoping for a cancer free diagnosis as soon as possible.
  15. He's a cheaper version of Adam Engel. Hope he doesn't get 300-400 ABs, but not bad in a pinch.
  16. They also had a doctor on who said its' probable they see at least a little bit of arthritis. If anyone remembers the Boy Wonder, Robin Vetura's ankle injury, it was in spring training and gruesome. He came back and pllayed, and played really well for a while, but arthritis set in and he wound up retiring. it was so bad, he was using a cain. He had some surgery to relieve it.
  17. Steve Phillps the former GM, was talking about this on MLBN the other day. He said there is no way to get insurance on a pre existing condition. Correa's contract, no matter where he signs, is uninsurable.
  18. You do get your QB on a rookie contract for 2 more years. I just wonder what Fields would be like with decent protection and some top receivers. I don't think they would take the gamble. Some of these top picks have really sucked, and even starting a rookie, you are pretty much punting on 2023.
  19. I do know one thing, if Eloy played RF at home, he'd find that box that Yankee rookie bounced off of a few years ago, and mess himself up.
  20. Yes. They need someone who can play CF when Robert misses 50-90 games.
  21. I kind of like White Sock. I was at a game in the late 80s when the team was really bad, and I was sitting behind the White Sox dugout. Russ Mormon was on the team, and he whiffed. He was coming back to the dugout with his head down, and some guy yelled "keep your head up, youre a White Sock" at him. For some reason,, that cracked me up, and I'll never forget it.
  22. Since I was told I shouldn't complain because there is nothing I can do about it, maybe we should discuss reality. Whose contract(s) can the White Sox dump for bonus pool money?
  23. What I don't get is when it's said there is nothing I or anyone here can do about it, that's true, so if we are just supposed to accept reality as it was phrased, what is the purpose of this board? Don't complain, there is nothing you can do. I'm not one that complains about every move. I think Benin10d was probably the safest choice on the next tier of FA. Clevinger will probably be at least as good as Cueto in 2023, maybe not what Cueto was in 2022. I like the manager. but the roster is the same BS they sell us all the time. Why not try to dominate? Why is that a bad thing?
  24. i b**** about it because it is wrong and it is not what was promised. Other than signing x, y, or z, you say, well, your highest salaried player just left, how about signing one of those guys? How about getting someone last year when you needed left handed hitting? How about Harper? How about Machado? Remember when year 8 of Machado's deal was going to be a problem? Guess what, they backload Benintendi so during that year 8, he is paid at his highest rate. How about all of the interesting trade ideas RH menttioned? Nope, roll back the clock to 2013-2017 and hope if the odds are defied and everything goes right, the White Sox will be really great. I am a fan which is short for fanatic. Sorry if I would like to see some life come out of this front office instead of just accepting it. Once I accept it, I will move on to other things. They can be better. I am asking that they be better. If you looked at my history, I have not been a long time basher. In fact, many times I have stuck up for JR. But this is a new level.
  25. Thats just because you have accepted the White Sox way. What other team who supposedly thinks of multiple championships, RH's words, operates like this? No one. The White Sox settle and hope. It's their SOP. We were told at the beginning of the rebuild things would be different. It's back to the future. Hope 2 or 3 rookies come up big. Hope 6 or 7 guys stay healthy and bounce back after losing your best player who actually stays on the field....They don't have to have a $250 million payroll to act like a contender. I hope Sosa is better than any 2B they could have signed or traded for. I hope Colas is the best RF in the AL, but will that be in 2023? Almost assuredly not. Maybe that will make them better in 2024 when there will be even more question marks. Gio will be gone. Lynn will probably be gone. If Clevinger is good in 2023, he will be gone, and it's not like the Sox will go on a spending spree to replace them.
