QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) Yeah but when you say trade everyone you are bound to hit on one. He did specifically say trade Santos for SP.

Sergio Santos traded to Toronto
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 11:55 AM) The thing with Santos is pitchers who rely so much on their slider seem to fall apart quickly. I loved watching Sergio, but we're selling high on him. Good luck Sergio! I thought they could have gotten 2 players instead of one for Santos (around the quality of the one we are getting back), but it's most definitely saying that the Sox weren't sure on Santos lasting for very long, which is a fair assessment. I like the move for both teams though.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 12:06 AM) The new Childish Gambino is amazing. What do you think of it, Sqwert? I believe you recommended his older stuff before. I got it as it was recommended from a friend (I had no idea that Glover rapped before the recommendation) and I love the album. He's an unbelievably talented person.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 11:25 PM) Hmmm, me thinks we got rid of the wrong guy in Ozzie. I thought nobody wanted to play for Ozzie. I'm thinking we got the raw end of the stick in Kenny. Prove me wrong, KW. Marlins signing people; Sox moves to be determined. Theyre signing people because they are offering more years and dollars than anybody else, which is a big reason why Ozzie split there too.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) How are they no longer options? lol. s*** is a little different now. But they're still there. We will have to spend a bit more I believe, just because almost every prospect is going to be demanding the slot amount, and we have gone under on many of the guys after the first round. But that amount will be trivial. The biggest expenditures will be in scouting, or at least should be. With the caps in place, you have to be sure that the guys you are selecting really are the best option, and this is especially true in the international signings portion.

Coaching Decision
QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) One of my soccer players is a very good athlete, perhaps the best athlete on the team, he sucks as a team mate, and can't play his position, instead runs all over the field. As a team mate he lets everyone know with his gestures and words that he could have made that stop, scored that goal, could play their position better than they do. Tonight when we needed a couple guys to put away soccer balls, he wouldn't help, instead I heard him telling one of his team mates to go do it because his mom was waiting for him. Ten minutes later I come around the corner and he's sitting there. I said I thought your mom was here. He said she was on her way. I asked why he couldn't help with the balls and he said because Nathan is the ballboy. (Nathan is a teammate, we have no ballboy). He is always asking to play another position, thinking he can do anything perfectly. After all this I decided to keep him out of tomorrow's game. I have watched the last couple games and scrimmages and my defense is working really well together, my two mids and forward on the other side works well as a team until this guy shows up to hog the ball and bring a defender with. My forwards are playing well together. The kid I'm putting in isn't as big or fast, but I know he'll be in position. I'm thinking it's time for the big we're a team speech. The team has too little passion, too little heart and I really believe keeping this guy at home will help. But damn, he is good. Thoughts? I think you're handling it fine, hopefully it's a wake up call for the kid.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 04:55 PM) Not hindsight family has been a season ticket holder since 1981.....................Turner and Zook both ran clean vanilla programs for the most part.............Illini need to get someone that will excite fanbase and a buzz in recruiting. Time to hit the homerun for once! Zook recruited well for being at Illinois, but not as much in the past few years. And it seems like you are against having a clean program...

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) I'm growing tired of the show and anticipate the book being more of what I wanted the show to be. What "book" did you get? The Comendium One (the first eight volumes)? There's a paperback edition of that for $32 on Amazon. Looks like the remaining volumes have to be bought separately. Yup that's the one, and you can sell it back for around $20 too. I'm probably going o wait for the next compendium to come out cuz the books are pricey otherwise.

QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 07:53 PM) I've been re-reading the graphic novel recently, and I'd just like to express how sick I am of the Walking Dead TV show. Where the f*** is Tyrese, goddamnit? The finale was the same old s*** they've been doing from the start. If I wasn't a fan of the graphic novel or a "ZOMG ZOMBIES" type of person, I'd have dropped it awhile ago. 100% agreed. QUOTE (danman31 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) The one thing that I hate most about Walking Dead: people talking about the graphic novel. Where is so and so? Why isn't so and so doing this yet? Why is the TV show so much s***tier than the comic? Bleh. I catch myself talking about the graphic novel too much, but it seriously is a LOT better, it's not even close. If you enjoy the show, you will most definitely enjoy the graphic novel. I just recommend holding out until you are done with the show to read the novel.

Cyber Monday
QUOTE (The Gooch @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) I though since it is all online, we could post in here today if we find any good deals. So what are ya buyin? Or is Cyber Monday just a big scam? There are good deals out there, just gotta know what you want and see if that comes up. The biggest scam of these shopping days is that stores sell you technology that is a few years old for really cheap, and people who aren't techy wont look at that because they just see the price. Those $200 laptops and such are really quite terrible in terms of specs, but for some people it is what they need so great for them. But there are some good deals out there on laptops, tvs, etc, if I ever buy anything during this time of the year it's because something I've been eyeing is on sale, it's not because they advertised something.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) Big Ten just might sweep day 1. They are probably the favorite in each of those games. Day 2 gets rough for them though. Is Clemson really that bad this year? Iowa looks awful thus far.

I think they pretty much have to leave the farm now, Herschel will kick them out for the barn incident, and they'll have to move on.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 27, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) As boring as this season has been, that was one great "mid-season" finale for Walking Dead. There was closure, the scene between Shane and Dale was tense as could be, and Rick finally stepped up and showed that he has the balls to do what needs to be done to lead. Definitely a step up, but I still feel like they are going about a ton of things the wrong way after reading the graphic novel, maybe that has officially skewed my perception of the show forever now...

QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 26, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) Let's see how I did. The 6 teams I thought would have a better B1G record than Illinois: Michigan (6-2) Ohio St. (3-5) Nebraska (5-3) Iowa (4-4) Penn St. (6-2) Wisconsin (6-2) Illinois was 2-6. It's pretty rare I get to feel smart when it comes to college football. You know I hate you.

They were talking on 670 about Jim Tressel and where he may end up later. They mentioned Illinois, and I think it's a fun hypothetical scenario, I don't see him taking the job but it would be pretty cool to see a top coach come in and prove himself once again, especially in the same conference as OSU.

Trade Adamn Dunn and Alex Rios
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 26, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) The real problem is that in order to trade them for that 6 pack and peanuts, you'd have to chip in $50 million right now. That's why they're not being moved yet. And no matter how much we'd dislike the sight of them in the Sox starting lineup next year, it must happen. It's the only way to start knocking down that $50 million towards an amount that might be reasonable. Which is what most fans seem to not understand. You cant even give these guys away without giving another team vasts amount of money. At this point, it's so unfeasible to get another team to take them on that it's best for the Sox to just hold onto them.
