White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If you have those feelings, there are certainly other teams and GM's that feel the same way. Sox would certainly be selling low on Robert this offseason. I think it comes down to how much JR wants the payroll slashed and if Getz can get some viable return for him. I'm not expecting anything great if he gets moved. -
Takes two to tango, Hays likely has a much better market than Slater, hence the Sox stand no chance to convince him to come here.
-
Hahahahaha. Assholes never fail. This is the exact reason people don't bother sharing things. You don't have to believe it, but immediately shooting down someone because iTs tHe IntErnEt is ignorant.
-
I heard the same from a friend of mine with a Phillies connection.
-
So do I, but rewarding mediocrity for the sake of a lack of options is a really bad precedent to set for a supposed "revamp" of the system. Let the kid prove he belongs.
-
Unless I am thinking of something else, didn't he have a collision in the WBC with another fielder and go down in pain when it happened?
-
Good luck Monty. Haven't earned it yet IMO.

Roki Sasaki Free Agency - Dodgers vs Blue Jays for Roki's heart
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Timmy U's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They planing on chloroforming the kid and locking him in a room until he signs a contract? He has zero benefit choosing to come to the Sox when he can become an immediate piece on a contender. Going to a contender is the only thing he can choose after missing out on a payday. -
Venable named new Sox Manager-per Merkin
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to HeGetzUs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The one thing the Sox could offer him was to be front and center apart of something like building the team from ground zero. He never really had a position like that in other orgs and always was behind someone else. Hopefully spending time in and around as many good organizations helps him be successful. I still don't think anything changes until Jerry is 6 feet under, but it would be nice to have some type of competence on the field in the near future. -
CHSN to be available on antenna in Chicago
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This honestly this isn't all that different when compared to other streaming apps. Marque is $20/month and that's for one team. Altitude's app for the Nuggets and Avalanche games is $19.95/month. The Pelicans streaming app is $14.99/month. Now if you want to complain about the quality of the product, then that's a different story. But compared to what other teams are beginning to launch, it really isn't anything outrageous, unless you disagree with type of service. Sign of the times. -
Because Jerry listens to Tony whose opinion trumps everyone and everything.
-
TLR, just turned 80 and still delusional…
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to WhiteSox2023's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Tony is the most overrated baseball mind out there. -
What smallest ounce of hope I had has now completely vanished. They’re doomed.
-
It makes sense only because it's Jerry. Dave Stewart connection to TLR who whispers lovely little unicorn and sugarplum thoughts into Jerry's ears. Jerry is massively internalized and only surrounds himself by YES men. Who knows how much is left up in that 88 year old brain to even make a smart business decision anymore? Tony tells Jerry this is good for baseball, and the "biggest fan out there" Jerry believes him. You've already got the perfect storm brewing: (1) A all-time worst performance this season continues to damage attendance, season ticket holders, and revenue in a huge market dominated by the team up North. (2) They're dropping payroll for the second straight year, which easily could make the team enticing for a new ownership group to want in. (3) The state is not going to budge one inch on any sort of taxpayer funding for a new stadium, and the lease is expiring relatively soon. The classic "spin" that Oakland used to convince MLB about the issues holding back their competitiveness exists with this organization, self-inflicted or not.
-
Yeah, I'd pretty much agree. It's the current ownership group who is on life support. Remove it from the equation and people will come back. Minimal effort from a new owner would be leaps and bounds better than what is currently taking place.

The Athletic: Must Read article on Jerry Reinsdorf/White Sox
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to thedoctor's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There are people out there that live their entire lives engulfed in deliberate ignorance or information avoidance. Jerry is selfish enough to fall into this category. -
Realistically, he'll probably get a cup of coffee as backup MI at some point just based on draft status. What an atrocious pick, but I can't really say I'm all that surprised with their decisions anymore.

Will the Sox prioritize Moncada over youngsters?
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No you don't. He's gonna get $5M to go away in the offseason. There is zero chance that insane $25M option is picked up, and if it is, Getz is more of a moron than anyone could have imagined. -
Davis Martin using a "kick change" now?
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Am I wrong, or is this similar to the "Vulcan" change Ian Kennedy used to throw? Not in how you hold it, but in the end result? -
Sox claim De Los Santos, IL Wilson, recall Varland
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Why not? Just because they are out of it doesn't mean they should stop trying to find some possible options for next season. DLS was quite effective in 2022-23. -
I agree. I'm rooting for them to break it. f*** it, at least it's something to strive for at this point, and the more it tarnishes JR's legacy.
-
The streak has reached 21. Raise a glass.
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is awesome. 5 away for cementing Jerry's legacy.
