He's been pretty great defensively this season, but the last week or so has been rough.

He's so terrible. Even his hits all just soft seeing eye singles.

Hopefully Leury. I guess it depends on Engel. If Engel isn't healthy enough to play, I guess you don't have a ton of options besides Eloy-Robert-Vaughn with Sheets at DH. Otherwise I'd prefer Engel in RF, Vaughn in LF and Eloy at DH. Just really hope TLR doesn't get cute and sit Vaughn on the bench in favor of Sheets at DH, Leury in RF and Cesar at 2B. If Leury is starting, its hopefully at 2B.

Vaughn hasn't played LF since his return, which I think is pretty telling. We're going to get an Eloy-Robert-Vaughn OF in the playoffs with Sheets at DH. Not how I would do it, but its pretty clear that is the plan.

Yermin hasn’t played a game in AAA in awhile and his playing time was cut a lot previously. He’s not even on Charlotte’s active roster and is on “temporary inactive list”. Not exactly sure what deal is but I think org has moved on.

Yeah that too if they have the balls to leave Keuchel off the roster or Carlos can’t pitch. I’d be surprised if they did the former.

Probably more likely we see tonight’s configuration than Goodwin. Honestly with a 26 man roster that is healthy I don’t see how Goodwin makes the playoff roster. Bench will be Leury, Collins, Sheets and Hamilton IMO.

I think there are lots of reasons Kopech can’t and won’t go 180 IP next season.

Yeah what they’ve done with Kopech this year is terrible. All around. He have been in aaa til early to mid summer managing inning, working up endurance and getting control back. And he should have been starting games in the bigs since then. Now pwe won’t even get a full 2022 out of him in the rotation. Major fuckup, bur TLR wanted him in the pen and probably doesn’t care too much about what that means for the future.

I don’t think Engel is at 50%, but even so, he’s an enormous upgrade on Goodwin.

Maybe Wright dropping his suspension is the short term roster play tho?

Yep. It sucks cause that early season Rodon was so good. But anyone expecting that to continue for 180+ innings and into October we’re always in for a rude awakening. I was pulling for Carlos and still am, but was always of the mindset of ride him while you have him because eventually he’s gonna go down. Now hopefully he’s alright and can contribute in some way in October. But expecting him to go out there and give you 7 innings of 1 run ball with a bunch of Ks went out the window months ago. Nothing that happened today changed that.

We are. No way Hahn picks up that option at this point. He’s not getting $6M on the open market.
