  1. The Sox have the weakest SOS the rest of the way iirc
  2. If this is genuine… I applaud that JR is doing something to fix the problem but why is he leading this process? It would be better if he had hired an independent party to conduct this process. People will be afraid to be candid when they’re talking JR because he’s the owner. If JR was smart, he would formed an independent committee (like the Bears did) to review the entire org and the performance of the FO.
  3. This sounds bleak till you remember that the season ends in two weeks and he’s only missing two starts. I saw someone ask if the Sox would consider sending him to the AFL to make up innings? I think that’s really aggressive, we have to remember that there’s instructs after the season and hopefully we can take part in those. With what’s been reported, I don’t think this injury will impact his innings target for next season.
  4. I personally identify with Wilt Chamberlin
  5. I wonder if he has covid. We’re in a surge.
  6. Gregory Santon single-handedly showing everyone why it’s dumb to pay big money for relievers.
  7. I’m more concerned to see how he looks after instructs and on the backfields in the spring. Hopefully he’ll get comfortable with this new swing over the winter. Regarding the Rankings, I’d go Colson/Schultz/Quero/Ramos/Eder/Gonzalez. I think there’s an argument to have Mena above Gonzalez. How has he looked in the field overall? I think his long term home will be at 3B.
  8. You’re absolutely right. The Sox PD at the ML level has failed him but this year he had 97 PA’s, he struck out 36 times and walked only twice. In 2022, he had 109 PA’s, he struck out 39 and walked twice. OPS+ of 72 and 56. He’s not good. Romy is the kind of player that the Sox need to rid themselves of in that he can’t get on base and he has zero approach at the plate. There’s better end of bench guys out there. I mean Zach Remillard is much, much better than Romy and is the perfect end of bench guy.
  9. A .500 record is very unlikely in my opinion. What quality free agents would sign here? Guys talk and the word around the league is that the Sox are a compete dumpster fire with a bad clubhouse culture, an idiot for a manager and a FO who doesn’t communicate at all. They need to clean house, fire the coaching staff (I’d keep Katz) and use next year as a rebuilding season.
  10. None of those have under gone a significant swing change like Gonzalez has. If you’re looking for something to be excited about regarding Gonzalez, he has 8 k’s to 7 bb’s. He’s under going a massive swing chance and he’s not striking out, that’s impressive.
  11. I wish him well but if you’re serious about winning and building a sustained winner, Romy Gonzalez has no business being on your major league roster.
  12. It was amazing to see Pedro up against Craig Counsell, who’s one of the top 5 managers in the game imo. He couldn’t light a candle to Counsell and managed the team out of at least one, maybe two wins this series.
  13. If the Sox are indeed preparing to go through another multi year rebuild, they should explore taking on bad contracts as long as they can get some serious prospects coming back to them. It’s something they should’ve did during the last rebuild but didn’t do, maybe JR is opposed to doing it. If I were the Sox I’d ask Detroit how much money do I have to eat of this contract to get Jackson Jobe.
  14. It doesn’t matter, they’re multiple years away from being a competitive team again
  15. Totally disagree with this. The Sox pitching and pitching development at the ML level has been the line bright spot of the season.
  16. This is from Eric Cross, formerly of Fantrax: “After the first game of a doubleheader on May 3rd, Greene was slashing .232/.292/.324 with a 31.7% strikeout rate and only four extra-base hits in 120 plate appearances. But since then, Greene has slashed .367/.433/.565 with 12 doubles, five home runs, and four steals in 164 plate appearances while dropping his strikeout rate to a more manageable 26.2%. For the season, Greene has improved his Quality of Contact metrics across the board and currently sits with a 10.2% barrel rate, 94.8 mph AVG EV, and 48.6% hard-hit rate. He also has a 78th percentile sprint speed and 90th percentile xBA.”
  17. Not just this but look at the growth Riley Greene made this year
  18. Grandal should’ve been DFA’d that day. This organization is a joke.
  19. Man, I really miss Rick Renteria.
  20. This, this right here is exactly right. You would think a manager would covet the opportunity to be able to come in and clean up a culture and instill a new one but Grifol has proven to be incapable of that. The Sox need to cut bait, he’s awful in game. He doesn’t optimize the roster and he’s allowed for the culture to somehow get worse under his watch. Don’t even get home started on him salivating over Sal Perez. The dude is a clown.

That’s true. It was a good signing but if they signed a superstar it would look a whole lot better.
  22. Aren’t we rooting for Darryl Boston?!
  23. Boopa1219 replied to WBWSF's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Does Pedro do anything good? Are there examples of him optimizing the roster? In the extremely unlikely chance that there’s a FO change, whoever is in charge will hopefully be allowed to change managers but I understand if they wanted to see Pedro can do in 2024 before finding a new manager in 25

This should be a lesson that you don’t spend big money on RP. Unless you’re truly a CL/RP away from a title, it’s one of the worst uses of resources. The Sox were spending what like $35M+ on RP’s entering the season, that’s crazy.
