Can we honestly say it wasn’t just for show? KW doesn’t speak to the media much any more, so in doing so they think it convinces us and the media that they are serious about turning things around. It’s just hot air. They are comfortable in the mess they made.

More depressing is that none of the fan outrage locally moves the needle one bit for them. Public shaming doesn’t pierce their bubble.

Pedro is the buffer between Hahn and the horrid roster they put together. They can’t fire him in April after singing his praises all winter. Firing their shiny new manager right after hiring him begs too many questions of the decision makers, they still need that scapegoat.

Feels similar to the responses I got from Brooks Boyer and my former rep when I voiced my disdain at the TLR hiring. It was all hard sell responses. Not one iota of self-reflection in the whole org.

It’s not denial if they don’t care to do the work to fix anything. I’m sure they are fully aware things are awful, but they are completely comfortable with awful. Why upset the status quo when doing so might be an admission of how much they’ve fucked it all up?

Definitely the worst team I've paid close attention to. There have been plenty of bad teams in MLB during my fandom, but this might be the worst Sox team I've ever witnessed.

Theo hasn't been any good since the slot system and INT caps went into effect. His best tools were throwing gobs of money at amateur talent. No way he would come here to work under JR's constraints.

Sorry DVS, but the Sox *are* the easy part of the schedule for other teams at this point. Not sure they can bank on facing "easier" teams to make much of a difference.

If you were a new owner walking into the Chairman’s office at 35th & Shields for the first time and were set to meet with the current Sox brass, is there even any one of them that you would keep around? Is there anything anywhere in the org worth keeping? Is there one single thing a new executive could identify that they currently do well? I’m hard pressed to find one single thing on the baseball operations side I would keep in place. Aside from Roger Bossard and the reputation for having top notch ballpark food, what does this org do well in any way?

This is all sound thinking. A full tear down/sell off/tank will be a multiple year effort. If Robert breaks out on a tanking team maybe his value jumps. If not he doesn’t cost you a ton and you at least have a stellar defensive CF.

That brief moment where he looked like a productive player again, savour it, we likely won’t be seeing it again.

Nope, Tribune really couldn’t give a s%*# about the Sox, and the Sun Times is pretty toothless. JR doesn’t seem to care about any new/online media, and he has Bob to launder his org’s image on a national stage. They are pretty insulated. It will take the level of toxicity boiling over the way it did with the Bulls along with dismal attendance and sagging merch sales. Something along those lines.
