  1. Collins protecting his roster spot before the trade deadline, He isn't gettin' traded anywhere now,.
  2. That was BenO's point. Why risk trying to go back and touch the plate even if you thought you missed it after you have been called safe? The ump's call has finality when he signifies a run has been scored, unlike a call at one of the other bases. A safe call at home, the runner heads into the dugout.
  3. I am not including Sheets in that trade. We may have have a big LH bat,,,,the kind of guy the Sox have wanted for years. I want to see more of Sheets before I give up on him.
  4. We need to come back and win this game and the series. Let's go.
  5. Yes, I agree. You have to watch the games, not just look at stats to evaluate these young players. Now Burger...he is looking like Yermin during his precipitous decline.
  6. Yoan is not stupid. He thought he hit the plate or possibly he knew he missed it. If it was the latter, perhaps he thought he might get tagged out when he went back to tag it. Then seeing the ump call you safe, why try to go back and risk getting tagged out ? I'm getting tired of fans calling Yoan lazy and stupid and Eloy stupid and crazy. They are just young men playing baseball. Cut it the fvk out with calling them stupid.
  7. As BeanO said, Moncada saw the safe sign. If he didn't he would have went back and touched the plate.
  8. I think Sheets still looks good enough to stick around for a while. . Tonight is not a good yardstick with the way this guy has been pitching.
  9. Perhaps the dominance of our starters does not carry over to the best opponents.
  10. This where a decent long man in the bullpen could come in handy if Carlos keeps struggling here.
  11. Looks like that trip back from Milwaukee will be a long ride.
  12. Avisail was injury prone and out of shape when he was with the Sox and he did not have many HR. He looks like a different player now.
  13. I also think Sheets is worth keeping for his LH power , but he lacks the physical tools to play a decent RF. We just have too many guys that fit that profile right now.
  14. He is hitting .255 with 11 HR. Very good for his rookie season. I never thought Vaughn should be sent down. I just don;t see him playing in the OF beyond this season, where he was almost forced to do, like the Sox forced Sheets to play RF for lack of any better option. I would go further and state that I would never trade Vaughn unless it was for another exceptional player, like Buxton.
  15. Stone is to Vaughn like some posters have become and I suspect he might be part of the reason. I prefer to evaluate players based on what I see, not what others, including Stone, tell me what to see. IMO, the promotion of Vaughn as being even adequate in the OF is a stretch. Every catch he makes of a pop up is not a great play. He is probably the slowest player on the team and cannot get to balls that most other ML OFers do. After Eloy injured himself reaching over the wall for a home run, Vaughn is a perceived as an exceptional outfielder because he doesn't even try to make those plays. In the process, he avoids errors and injury. Playing it safe is fine, except when a play has to be made...like the ball Vaughn couldn't get to that probably cost Rodon a no-hitter or the umpteen short fly balls that drop in front of Vaughn for base hits. He lacks range in the OF and, like Eloy and Sheets, should never be out there in an important game situation where defense is critical. If Vaughn, Abreu, Sheets, and Eloy are destined for DH/1B, some decisions will need to be made as Cespedes,Colas, and other outfielders are added.
  16. Stone creams in his pants for Vaughn every game.
  17. Sometime the best trade is the one you don't make. Maybe the Sox are not as close to being true contenders as we think. If that is the case, you have to hope our best prospects are not traded away in exchange for a few rental players and a one and done play-off run. I might choose to play the trade deadline pretty conservatively, maybe even stand pat, unless a team comes in with a deal that bowls us away or basically unloads a guy in his last year for the remainder of his contract.
  18. Time to hit Maders for some Schnitzel sans the Sox hat. Brutal, Juice.
  19. What hypothetical trade would you make ?
  20. Hypothetically..I'd trade Vaughn plus something else for Buxton.
  21. As whitesoxdave said, the Sox don't need this but you have to be careful not to push the guy over the edge. He sounds depressed and should get counseling just to be safe.

    Indians lost in 10 innings.
  23. We are about a week away from the trading deadline. I have no idea what is going on inside this guy's head but if his conduct draws Sox management's attention away to deal with it, that is not good for anyone, including Yermin.
