There is frankly nothing to announce until he's claimed or clear waivers and is removed from the 40 man.

Then what was the point of Merkin adding this to his article?...

"Yolmer Sanchez was placed on outright waivers by the White Sox, as first reported Monday by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, although the team has not made any announcement or confirmed the news."

I mostly just lurk, but please give it a rest.  I think we all know your feelings on Abreu by now.  There's no need to put the same opinion up over and over and over....

  • Ok Goober

  • WHERE IS PEAVY44 WHEN YOU NEED HIM?

...because its an accurate statement - the White Sox have not announced they placed Yolmer on waivers.  Placing a player on outright waivers does not directly remove him from the 40 man, so the club probably wouldn't make the announcement until he is formally removed from the roster either via claim or by clearing waivers and being outrighted off the roster.

Is Rabbit our best "inside" source?  If so, what about it?

Just a little more clarification, please.

SWERVE THE SOX GO OUT AND SIGN STEPHEN STRASBURG IN A MONSTER DEAL AND THIS PLACE ERUPTS.

No, but I do hope tomorrow brings us some good news. Idgaf about any of these twitter rumors since last year they epicly failed so hard, but yeh, Yolmer being non-tendered or what not does offer logical smoke. Could absolutely be nothing as well.

Right, but that doesn't really answer my question. If teams never confirm when a player is placed on waivers, and only confirm it when that player is formally removed from the roster, then why would Merkin feel the need to add that sentence with the word "although" in front of it?

Wow, starting to look like last winter around here.  Different outcome this time obv.  ?

Talk about click bait...

No, probably just him and Duber and Guff discussing the chances he’s coming here

One crazy thing about adding Wheeler is how many high velocity pitchers our rotation would have.  Here’s where our guys ranked last year in terms of fastball velocity:

  • #04 - Wheeler - 96.7
  • #09 - Lopez - 95.5
  • #15 - Giolito - 94.3
  • ** - Cease - 96.6 (would rank 5th)
  • ** - Kopech - 95.9 (would rank 7th)

Realistically we could have three guys in the top 5 assuming Kopech’s velocity returns to normal plus one more in the top 10 and another in the top 15.  Stuff wise, no other organization would come close to having this many starters at this level.

What was Rodon's ranking/numbers if you don't mind me asking?

Not coincidentally they have all had UCL injuries except Lopez.

His average fastball velocity was only 92.1 last year, so he would ranked around 40th for qualified pitchers or 70th with a 100 inning requirement.
