This deal is awesome! Perfect length. Good price for both sides. Super super excited to call Lynn a White Sock!

  • I mean, this really makes the Dunning deal a HR. I think the Rangers did fine in the deal too, Lynn didn’t make sense for them in their rebuild…but Lance Lynn was a Top 3 pitcher in the AL in the firs

  • Totally worth Dunning now times a thousand.

  • Just makes him more valuable to deal in the next few weeks

I would seriously consider Dallas as trade bait at the deadline now.  There's no need for him.

I don’t think you can trade him right now, but he’s definitely a guy you can take flyers on in the offseason.

Tony, it also solidifies the original Eaton deal with Nats as a good trade.

I really don’t think that needed any more “solidifying”

Besides my subtle poke at Jack Parkman this is a great deal. I’ve been an advocate of bringing him here since last years deadline and he hasn’t disappointed. He’s a true ace and our number 1 pitcher going into the playoffs.

Has anyone been watching what Dunning has been doing in Texas? That was not the type of pitcher this club needed.

Very nice! Pleasantly surprised by this one!

Im guessing Lance Lynn is your opening day starter for 2022?  (As well as your game one starter for the 2021 World Series)

I always felt 2/$40M was fair, so this with an option is unbelievable!!!

@CaliSoxFanViaSWside - Now we don’t need to go all-in on the 2021 season ?

Yessssssss ! !  Lynn helps a lot for the next few years but the Sox will be facing a different set of problems at the deadline next year. I'm happy !

At a minimum they should keep his innings next year below the level that would trigger the 4th year.

This team fucks

I always thought it would be 2/$40m myself whenever I talked or thought about extending him.

Love this. Solidifies the rotation for the near future. Lynn was born to play on the South Side.

Oh yea. Never expected this especially at a team friendly rate but glad I traded Dunning for him.

All I have to say is FUCK YES.

One if my fav Sox pitchers ever. Finally a “bulldog on the mound” that lets his pitching back it up.

Great news.  Would we have enough left to sign Rodon as well?

Hopefully this isn't our deadline spending.

That was the 2nd thing that popped into my head also.

I don't believe  it until Not Cishek reports it.

Kinda where I'm at as well. Rodon's injury history is scary, but if there's any chance this is legit moving forward...I want it.

Rodon is gone and we should be glad we're getting this one season from him.

The only reason why I didn't say it was I just wanted to enjoy the moment. I can always cry later if the deadline deals underwhelm us all.

Assuming we can somehow avoid Houston along the way…I know, I know, totally different team with Robert, Jimenez, Grandal, etc.

What’s Hector’s take?

Nelson Cruz on the way to help at DH, with Vaughn moving to RF?

SFG

NYM/NYY

Boston

Houston (probably not)

LAA/LAD

Anaheim feels like a good bet.
What other teams can give Rodon 4/$80 and not blink if it goes bad?

Doesn’t feel like a typical Cardinals move…Toronto, if they can increase their revenue the last 2-3 months playing north of the border.  Padres are already extended and have Clevinger coming back next year.
