So funny as I had an epiphany this morning that maybe Hahn’s first call was to Story

I think it’s story too

  • He’s still great on tv.  He’s absolutely brutal on Twitter.  He’s a yes man and he’s a condescending jackass on social media.

  • At least they didn't get roped along all off-season only to get Manny Machado's friends and relatives. It could be a lot worse.

  • So I just got a text from a buddy of mine who is very connected (to MLB not necessarily Sox). Said Sox are on fire right now and close on a couple sizeable moves.

If they go into this season with a platoon in RF once again after all the plug and plays the Whitesox used will show the incompetence of the front office

That, and nobody plays 162 anyway, especially not this year with the already built in double headers.

Too true.

I imagine Story is a 1 year deal? I'm fine wihth long term but I have to imagine he wants something short

Stoney doubling down on platoon system in RF….Fml

Boras must be playing hardball since SS is a mouthpiece for JR.

Dammit.

How does that help them shed salary lol

If you look up the salary of Keuchel and McNeil plus throw in $10M Sox save about $6M. This is my best guess based on looking at their salaries yesterday but not confirming them today.

FO doesn't like the prices out there and they are putting their state media to work.

Meaning…come back in June/July.   But please at least address the Kimbrel in the room before OD at least.

Sounds like Conforto less and less likely by the day.

Stone saying none of the Oakland pitchers necessarily put you over the top. If Vaughn is in any of those deals you don’t make it

He's not wrong. Rodon at his best puts you over the top which is why SF took the leap.

State media is pushing stand pat pretty hard. (Stone/Merkin)

This guy killed us last seasons.  Looked him up, he posted a 3+ war last year.

I meant “how does this shed salary” for the Mets, who are looking to shed salary as well.

Stone's first priority is a top of the line 2B,

Well he was a pitcher and knows the Sox have some groundball pitchers and are targeting another GB pitcher with Kelly. The Sox have tunnel vision with these type of relievers. A doubleplay is a pitcher's best friend.

As it should be.

Really interesting trade for the Twins. IKF can’t hit much but is a great defender. But to give up Garver in the deal? Very interesting.

Ahh ok but I find it odd that when you look at the Mets idea of shedding salary among position players the names thrown around are guys not making much like JD Davis and McNeil. The higher paid position players they have are the guys they just signed like Marte and Canha and the burdensome contract of Cano. I don't see how they can shed much salary among those 3. unless they find a sucker for Cano or trade Lindor or McCann.

Isn’t he a younger Simmons (not prime Simmons)

Yeah I like that deal for Texas. All glove light hitting .670 OPS bat going to the Twins? Sure. And I feel like Garver homered off us all the time lol

Speed also. 20 SB's last year.

Yeah you’d have to get really creative to shed Cano’s salary. Basically attach a couple top prospects to get out from under it.

He’s a fine SS. Garver seemed more valuable to me than that. The prospect that went back to MN is a nothing burger. 5 foot 10 40 FV P.

Not suggesting the Sox do this in the slightest, but think Mets would hand over McNeil to get from under Cano considering their payroll situation? Maybe take back Keuchel? Just brainstorming…know something like this was tossed around here months ago.
