Jose 3 year ZiPS projection. Not too shabby.

I'll be the one who takes the unvalidated but can't be ruled out shot at him...one big change since last contract is the presence of LaRussa.

I expect a 2/3 split in favor of laugh responses. Get to it.

Not laughing. LaRussa is a joke. I can easily see losing motivation with him around.

It's an answer he gave to a question. Asking the same question the day before or five minutes later mighty have elicited a completely different answer. It may also be a hangover from the CBA that will go away with time.

Everyone in this organization is a joke who couldn't get a job with a little league. Half the roster is AAAA or worse. Third place in the division and multiple embarrassing moments from LaRussa is all we should expect.

Yeah that’d be perfect. Win this year and let him go out on top.

Could be but the impression I get is that he's thinking about his family and is tired of baseball a bit, maybe climbing the mountain so many times but not quite summiting has gotten to him.  Quite the contrast from "I'll sign myself" a couple years ago.

Also I think the last 3 years with covid and the lockout was mentally extremely draining for many players

This is exactly like the movie "Pi" by Aronovsky...we cracked the secrets of the stock market.

that's actually pretty shabby at the end (a natural aging curve)

A deep dive in WAR at the end, but considering age and the number of games played, not really falling off a cliff.  Not entirely different than Pujols, with Pujols' health issues dropping his numbers down a bit more. But who knows - Abreau might very well pull off a Cruz or even Ortiz twilight resurgence.

I worship Jose obviously in a non religious way. But ... this may prove he could be 39, 40 rather than his listed age. Tru or not?? I do love Jose A as my haters on this board realize.

I've long suspected he's older than listed.

Definintely a weird change in enthusiasm for being a White Sox for life he were to continue playing.

Wonder how much Tony has played a role in these answers, and whether a potential change in manager and possibly GM would convince him to return.

Just immensely grateful he came and played to the best of his abilities every single game for yet another season. Just a few other Sox you can say the sane this season.

Plenty of folks here have looked to the outfield and noticed the number of first baseman, DH players we have on the roster. I'm certain he understands the implications.

Can the Twins come back and prove me right? I'm really hoping for a sweep and will gladly accept the shame and humiliation for thinking this team sucks.

I guess that means the Dodgers or Astros sign him.

With Vaughn's continued sucess and Eloy's emergence (ala 2019/2020), Abreu would be the odd man out if I were GM.  Since we cannot offer him a QO anymore, I'd offer him a low 1 year deal as a courtesy.  If he takes it fine, if he doesn't we can solve our DH issue.

The DH issue should be solved with Eloy sliding there full time.

It isn't solved until Vaughn and Sheets no longer ever play the OF.

It was in response to his comment about “if he doesn’t come back, we can solve our DH issue.” You’d have Vaughn at 1B. Sheets should be in LF against righties only) easier to hide a guy there) only until Colas comes up about 3 weeks into the season. Then he can be bench bat or depth at triple A.

No. Gavin Sheets should not be in LF. Full stop.

Ideally, you’re right he shouldn’t be. Also fine with that and just having Pollock play LF and Sheets not being with the team. It’s not complicated really.

The team needs to get more athletic and if Abreu signs somewhere else or retires, it would be a great opportunity to add a real corner outfielder and then adding Colas early in the year.

Sheets’ name shouldn’t even be mentioned when talking about constructing next year’s roster. Dude was plan A as part of the OF plan for this year and that failed. Can’t do it again this year. Can’t have Sheets, Vaughn or even Eloy out there on a regular basis. AAA depth for an injury to a DH/1B, roster filler until Colas is ready at best.

Not pointed toward you but I can't believe the Sox best player is overlooked so badly.
