Yep, he played in the 50s and 60s. Started with the Pirates and IIRC also played with the Phillies, Cubs and expansion Mets. Had some power with 200+ homers but wasn’t that good with the glove.

He was always in Cooperstown for Hall of Fame induction weekend. He'd set up a table on the sidewalk advertising "Frank Thomas autographs beginning at [time]" (this is a common thing for others players that played on the same team as the players that are getting inducted that weekend).

You could tell who was making their first trip out for an Induction weekend as they lined up an hour in advance. He was always a good sport about it and had fun, saying he was the original Frank Thomas and that ours was the *other* Frank Thomas.

Anyway, RIP to that guy.

Thomas was also the guy who started needling Dick Allen badly when they both were teammates on the Phillies. Some of the comments may have been racial and it led to a fight:

Allen had issues in the 60s but he should have cleaned Thomas’ clock, guy was a jerk.

In an update to this story, Frank Thomas of the White Sox was rushed to the hospital after becoming violently ill after seeing Chris Getz’s most recent player acquisitions.
