Welp, Time for the thread about 2024-2025 FA’s we won’t sign…

Recommended Posts

With the Sox fans desire for the season already at mathematical elimination,  let us start the offseason thread and ponder the FA’s we will “try to sign”, by making this a place free agents “want to play” (in anyway that they can try that isn’t the one thing the free agent is looking for….money).

And after a quick perusal….it turns out…there is no hope.  Better luck next…er…in 5 years.

Prediction: the $100 million contract will once again be avoided by the Sox.

At this rate (all other clubs than the A’s) will cross $150 million contracts before the Sox think about $100 million).

With the A's now connected to political capital Sacramento and eventually Las Vegas...you're going to see either venture capital or the gambling industry putting a lot of money into the A's eventually.

Only hope for White Sox in Chicago obviously is a new stadium and change in ownership.

We are like 15 minutes into a rebuild. Do we really need to already start getting mad about not adding expensive players to a terrible 100 loss team?  It isn't just the Sox who wouldn't be adding to this dumpster fire in any significant way either.

Is it just me or is that kind of a boring FA class?

For sure. Some interesting SP's, but the position player side looks pretty rough after Alonso and Soto.

I can't wait until the Dodgers pay Soto $600M to DH for 10-12 years.  There are no quick fixes on the FA horizon even if Jerry wanted to spend money, it's probably time to get serious about trading Robert.

They have a pretty okay DH already. Under the radar guy.

That would be idiotic, because the odds are Ohtani will only last 5-7 years after a second TJS/revision.

He would likely have to DH at that point for fear of another tear in the OF. or play 1st like Harper.

Just my opinion but a change in ownership would do a lot more to change the situation than a new stadium.

Yeah, I more meant it like some uber rich team that doesn't really need Soto will get him and the rich will continue to get richer while the Sox further fade into obscurity.

Torres and Santander feel like Sox type FA signings. I assume they’ll be in play for both and likely only land Santander.

Santander is too good to end up on the Sox. He'll have offers from other teams that will blow the Sox out of the water.
