Wrong. Rumors are rumors and unless something is finalized it’s all speculation.

Sure, but we typically rank the accuracy of these trade rumors by the source that reported them.  I think we can all agree that Ken Rosenthal is a pretty reliable source, no?

While I only remember the Reds / Robert rumor mentioning Arroyo and not any other prospect names, the trade fell through due to lack of agreement on the prospects and money involved…

I also don’t think it’s outrageous to believe that the Sox could have gotten back Arroyo plus additional prospect(s) back for Robert had the Sox eaten some money, prior to this season.  But after another half season of bad Robert, I doubt this same offer would be on the table anymore even if the Reds were still an interested team.

Dude, Message board opinions are just that, opinions.  You get so worked up on this site about what other people think and that’s like 90 percent of your arguments.  “Group opinion” lmao, you love to just put everyone in a blob against you.  Chicago White Sox can say what he wants I’m not sure why you feel like it feeds into some actual weighted opinion that will affect the trade.

i listen to Jon Heyman when he calls into the score (🤮) and he keeps talking about how little value Robert has and how the Sox will have to be creative to move him.  Is his opinion not national?  I don’t give a s%*# what he thinks but it’s the truth, we all know Robert is CAPABLE of being better but he is not playing good, or even mediocre, and any return for him will be most likely disappointing considering the talent in Robert

I truly do think he's the number 1 change of scenery candidate of all the guys that busted out over the past few years.

If I were A GM, Robert would be an awesome wildcard to acquire because he could flat out carry.

You are trying to take a victory lap by pretending that everything you don't like isn't true, all so you can come back and try claim a win.  We have that reporting, whether it hurts your feelings or not.

Rumors are rumors. Sorry if it hurts your feelings.

So who declined the trade? Do we even know that? Presumably, the Sox wanted more than Arroyo if they were kicking in money. And yes, Rosenthal is a reputable source but you don’t think executives use him in trade negotiations? Again, rumors are rumors and until a trade is finalized it’s entirely speculation. Anyways, I think we can all agree that half way into the 2025 season teams would take Bellinger over the rotting corpse of Robert lol

And there is the move of the goalposts.

I know you want to take your little victory lap here, but if you want to disqualify news reports on this topic, you can't take your lap either because now you also have no proof at what these players relative values were over the winter.

I think I said the exact same thing in this thread earlier, I’m dreading the day he shows up in another uniform and becomes HIM and we all get to watch from afar

His swing looks pretty busted imo. He'll need an entire offseason to redo his approach. He hasn't been able to cover the outer half going on three seasons now.

I think hiding him in a lineup with Harper Castellanos Bohm and Schwarber will help him tremendously just because he will be seeing way more hittable pitches.  He looks busted but I will not be surprised if he is fixed in a new uniform at all

Honestly I’d much rather see him at a superstar level on another team rather than continuing to struggle.

No bitterness or pain. The incompetence of this franchise has made me numb enough to all that where I’d just rather root for a player to succeed.

He's also by far the most talented of the group.

I don't like to see talent like his wasted. Baseball is such a mental game that environment matters more than other sports imo. With the exception being NFL QB.

I've been talking about this for about 36 months now, but loved to see a chart showing it in an article today at FG:

What a damn shame Luis isn't hitting, because he'd be the most valuable commodity in baseball at this deadline by far if he were. Center Field is the weakest offensive position in the game. Having a + bat and defender there is a huge advantage for a team versus the league.

It's actually a great reason to cross your fingers and hope because there aren't a lot of options out there.  I could see a team hoping they can improve on whatever it is the Sox have done for Robert the last few years and taking a chance on him.

https://nypost.com/2025/07/13/sports/white-sox-receiving-heavy-interest-in-luis-robert-jr-ahead-of-trade-deadline/

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, at least eight teams have reached out to the White Sox to express interest in acquiring Luis Robert Jr.

The dynamic 27-year-old outfielder is having a brutal season offensively, slashing .189/.275/.322 with nine homers, 34 RBI and 22 stolen bases. The common assumption though is that he just needs a change of scenery. Heyman didn’t note any of the teams that have checked in, but expect it to be a who’s who of contenders in both leagues.

If there really are 8 suitors, we might get something useful for him, especially I'd we eat some money.

Perhaps we would turn our focus to CF prospects with Carlson now in the fold at SS.

We ride this roller coaster every deadline about how 87 teams are interested,  and they might be willing to give up these great prospects,  then we get a disappointing return which early on is justified because this injured guy will come back and someone will fix the other slumping guy, before eventually being rejustified that we should have expected a crappy return all along.

We just need a "mystery team" to get involved, that will fix everything!
