Somewhere Rob Mackowiak bowed his head and said a silent prayer to the Patron Saint of Out of Position Fielders

Can't be any worse than Vaughn in RF, in a season the sox were supposedly going to be competitive no less. At least now it doesn't matter if he sucks

How does a GM / manager go from being insistent on starting a glove first / no bat SS to starting a 6’3” 225 pound 1B/3B by trade that has barely played SS in the minors or majors?

Further evidence that the Sox are dysfunctional as f***.

Is Brooks Baldwin dead?

If a couple starting pitchers and a couple batters prove to have some long term value, that's about the most we can hope for with this season

Praying for Tauchman's hamstrings. He can't replace Palacios soon enough, but I look at B-R and see that while Palacios' OPS+ sits at a meager 54, Luis Robert's hangs just below at 53. Also, Nick Maton's 2 early season HRs are doing a lot of the heavy lifting on his 80 OPS+

Yeah, you hope for breakout seasons, even better if it is from key guys and/or young guys.  A good portion of this roster is playing major league baseball for the last time ever.

All of us were expecting something like this but still it is shocking to see that the Sox are already nine and a half games out of first place and May isn't even here yet.

They could be a dozen games out by next week.

Wow

Dalbec at SS is hilarious. I love this team - I mean, i don't watch but I love looking at the absurdity of it all every day.

The idea that they're starting Dalbec to get a bit more offensive production since the offense has been so bad is hilarious.... since the end of the 2021 season, he has an OPS under 600 lol

Always can depend on WestEddy to justify, in some way, the decisions made. Palacios shouldn't even be in the big leagues, but he's leading off. lol

And to clarify, Robert has been terrible but at least his xWOBA is in the 41st percentile - guy should stop worrying about increasing his walks IMO - while Palacios is hitting and performing at his expected line.

That's quite the quiverfull of misinterpretation. There is no possible way to read what I wrote and come away from it thinking I'm justifying anything.

Just let Robert be Robert.  Maybe you want certain guys to work counts and walk as much as possible, but it is not working for Luis.  Clear his head and let him use his athletic ability as best he can.

Keep starting Dalbec at shortstop, and DFA Amaya. I'm all for it.

Chasing every pitch six inches outside of the strike zone wasn't working either though

When you are rightly convinced that you have to carry the entire offense, it isn't ideal.

Surely Maton Sosa or Baldwin would be better options at SS than Dalbec?

But no...he's played about a week or two's worth of games there in his entire career since high school.

WestEddy needs to bring back that spring training chart that has Tristan Gray, Andre Lipcius and Maton with more time at SS.

Generally,

Building a team off the waiver wire and minor league contracts because no other team will give them a major league contract, gets you more losses than you thought possible.

I get that the White Sox have to be bad. But do they really have to keep being this bad?

And is Bobby Dalbec the best SS option in the entire world when you had nearly two full years and two full offseaons to find just one guy who can actually field AND hit???

Robert 3 for his last 32

Twins' announcers saying he looks confused...needs to pick one pitch or area of the plate specifically to look for, instead of just guessing every pitch.
