While about 70% of first round picks eventually make it it the bigs, how many turn out to be stars? Colson is more likely a case of not being as good as the Sox thought he was when drafted vs. him being ruined by the Sox. Plus, his back issues didn't help. The Sox don't have a great track record of first round picks, especially for position players. Colson is probably just a bust. I could, however, see him up with the Sox after the trade deadline to "see what he's got."

I’m not saying that as a counter to the overall point you are making, but he’s not under .700 as of now.

Hopefully he can sustain the success without HBPs getting in the way.
