almagest
Quote I anticipate there being a lot of moves here coming up. Just like there will be across the league, knowing there is so much time. But at the same tiMe, we are really excited about the group we have." Murakami is coming is right there. Could it be any clearer? 1

ChiSoxFanMike
So the front office isn’t interested in a 25 year old left handed hitter with massive power. Another slapdick hitting 2nd baseman is more up their alley. Lol.

Curious… And if they are going to go dirt cheap, then work a waiver claim/trade for Big Christmas and try him out at 1B. Like some of the worst in the league as soon as he signs. He might be able to overcome it with his power but this isn't some home run signing. He's incredibly risky.

That would also put them in play for Imai...who seemed headed for AL/NL East or SFG. Also, Sasaki had them second, Toronto third. And Okamoto would be 30-31, then 32-33 in the years they most needed him to perform. Equally risky, albeit maybe 60% of the financial commitment of Murakami. You’re not wrong, but this is the perfect time for them to take a risk. The payroll is basically non-existent. If he doesn’t translate, then it’s unfortunate but at least they tried. But there is also the possibility that he is a monster. And he fits in perfectly from an age/skillset standpoint.
