Also, Drew Thorpe is coming off the 60DL very soon

I wonder if we can include him in a package for a starter with a fastball

Literally, no one will say we should have done that.

Even if I don’t like the move, I can usually understand the thinking behind it. It usually at least makes some sense. I just don’t see it here. I’m confused more than anything.

I guess he will platoon with Peters in CF, but who comes off the active? I gotta believe something else is simmering.

Does the DFA of Davitt mean anything? Like if they were going to trade Pereira this afternoon, would they still have had to DFA Davitt this soon?

you even tender Doyle a contract next year?

He’s controlled through 2029

I guess another possibility is that Braden's foot issue is a little more serious than expected.

Highly doubtful - I sure as s%*# hope not 😆

I hope when the clock strikes 6:00 the intentions of this trade will be clear.

Castillo needed to be added.

I think Davitt going down makes room for Castillo and/or Brazoban.

Yes, but if he doesn’t rebound down the stretch are you tendering him a contract next year for ~$5M?

-0.5 fWAR is really tough to pull off with how good he was defensively 2-3 years ago

When your injury zaps your defense it makes sense. I trust that their evaluation of him includes ensuring that he is fully healthy now.

In his last 7 games he’s hitting .316 / .381 / .421

😆

They’d probably maintain him through the offseason and if he doesn’t have a good spring, send him down to the minors. He has options.

I'm mostly fine with it. Adams probably a bullpen guy (and it ain't gonna get better for him in Coors), and the other guy is whatever. Buying upside with Doyle makes sense if you think you can fix his struggles and that the injuries this year caused him to hit so poorly.

Center field looks like a platoon now.

This guy gets it.

Technically he will be arb eligible this year, but he could well be a non-tender if he continues the trend of the last couple of years. Honestly in 1700 PAs, it is looking like 2024 was the outlier, and not 23/25/26. Can they rescue him, who knows, but also his injuries this year are the type that sap power for a season too, and his numbers show it.

Oblique and groin injuries seems like a bad choice to take on in a playoff run.

They both were grade 1 issues and he is not considered to be fully healthy.

Adam Engel is the comp. Just my opinion. And that could make you like him or not like him

He looks like a NTC at this juncture, but hopefully he can turn it around. The tools are there. Not sure about the skill set.

His issues at the plate preceded his injury. The groin happened during his rehab in the minors.

I think last year and into this year, his swing needed some changes because he started hitting the ball into the ground at a might higher clip.

Again - I see why Fuller would want to work with him.

Oh I hate this.

Even if I understood why they wanted Doyle (I don't), how the heck is this the cost?

That depends on whether he'd claim Drake LaRoche to be the heart and soul of the team.

Even his big offensive season was barely above average. I agree, he's Adam Engel Jr., and we know what happened to him when he started getting hurt.

You’re thinking Eaton lol

Huge head scratcher! WTF! What a waste of prospects! We don't need a GG outfielder who cant hit. Our outfield defense is just fine!
