This is true, except I don't think he could have run KW out. Ozzie is getting paid by the Marlins to do nothing. He left the White Sox with a season left on his contract because he deemed himself too important to be working on a contract that was expiring.

 

There are millions of other people with a lot bigger problems than Ozzie Guillen, and all of his are self made.

I read the article in the Trib this morning and this isn't an exact quote but he said something along the lines of, "A lot of people would be happy to see at me USCF and a lot people would probably hate to see me. I don't know why they would hate to see me though, I had done a lot of great things for them."

 

That pissed me off.

Bob Brenly also won a World Series title. The Diamondbacks thought so much of him that they fired him after a 29-50 start which was after they traded Curt Schilling to the Red Sox and sent a huge package of prospects for Richie Sexson (who played 23 games with the DBacks) and gave him a pitching staff full of junk pitchers (as well as Randy Johnson and Brandon Webb). They league thought so highly of him as a manager that he's never gotten another chance to manage in the major leagues.

I think even back in 05 or 06 when times were good the rest of MLB had a different view of Ozzie than most Sox fans did. I don't think that view has changed much since then.

Odds are neither Chicago team will win another one in the next 20-50 years so he's going to be a legend a long, long time. Baseball is different. Too much money out there in other markets for a Chicago team to win one.
