  1. What is racist about that? Unless it you think they committed a hate crime, which I don't have any real reason to assume. They were just very concerned with cutting people off in the parking lot. Their son did use racial slurs, but none that actually made sense to the race in which he yelled them at.

  9. Do not call them up at this point. Would be an absolute waste. And I say this as someone who wanted them both up in July.

  10. Don't talk back to a nice Hispanic family who just wants to bully their way out of the parking lot, or the 3 of them, including their kid, may open your car door and go through your window to assault you, then chase down the car as you try to drive away, beating at the windows and yelling. That was the biggest takeaway I saw.

  11. In 133 games in the Sox system here is what Eloy Jimenez has done: .340/.391/.615, 1.006 OPS 552 PAs, 509 ABs 173 Hs, 41 2Bs, 3 3Bs, 31 HRs. 313 TBs. 85 R, 97 RBI 43 BB, 93 K, 7.79 BB%, 16.85 K%.

  12. Well sure, we can do that, too, if you think we need to. Only one obstacle before we can proceed with this sage recommendation of yours, though: don’t we need to “hire” them to do a job, first? Can’t fire someone from a job until you’ve first hired them to do the job in the first place. And as far as we know, the fans aren’t on the payroll responsible for any aspect of the team’s performance. So as usual, you are probably right, but in this rare instance, maybe you are just off a bit.

  13. Steve Stone just compared Moncada to Trout in terms of tools. Either he's stupid too or I'm not a moron for saying he has those skills.

  14. People talk about Engel power but where does that come from? He hasn't shown it in games. He's had 8 HR in 200 MLB games. Career .289 SLG%. Career .098 ISO If he was wellington Castillo or Gallo out there he'd be an everyday CF regardless of his subpar AVG and OBP. It's kind of disappointing because with the kind of defense he's shown lately he doesn't need to be a good hitter just good enough in one area to be respectable whether that be OBP or SLG%. Unfortunately he has a 54 wRC+ I don't care if you are willy mays out there that isn't good enough to play in the MLB and honestly despite the heroics at the wall most metrics have weighed his defense only to be slightly above average this year.

  16. Thanks for all the advice guys. I will admit we did bug out after 8, so as to beat traffic as we were getting up at 4:30. Since the yard was pretty full, I didn't want to battle traffic. Had to navigate some traffic, but I guess we got back to Waukegan within about an hour 15 to 30. We spent a good part of the morning at OHare with my son before he left, then we drove down to the Navy Pier area. holy cow. We got turned around, but accidentally found parking above a Whole Foods. Spent a lot of time down there. Damn a lot of people, but good food. Cubs fans everywhere, but it was cool seeing Sox fans and we'd chat about "2 years baby". We all know (we hope) what that means). Food. Giordanos was great, but damn we had to wait a long time. For me. THE REAL win was Big Ed's. Someone on this fourm mentioned it, we went there Thursday night. OH. MY. GOD. Their pulled pork is insane and those friggin mashed potatoes. I wanted to go back there, but we had to hit some other places. I got back home from Waukegan to Pittsburgh in about 8 hours driving. As I mentioned we left before 5AM CST as I didn't want to fight going around the city. It was sweet seeing Sox Park one last time. Wife and I plan on going back at some point, but getting hotel in the city and just doing the "L" to various places, hit a game and just enjoy Chicago. This trip was more for the oldest son, so enjoying the city was a lower priority, though still had fun. There was amazing energy in the crowd Saturday night and I can only imagine just how electric it is during a pennant race. Hope we get one of those in "two more years". Anyway, the advice from those in here is well appreciated. It made our trip so much easier and more fun. Would love to work it out next year or the year after where I could see the Sox and Bears. I have seen Blackhawks games in Chicago, seen White Sox games in Chicago (even saw the last 3 games ever in old Comiskey), but have never seen the Bears in Soldier field (I've seen them in Baltimore and Washington). That's something I gotta take care of.

  17. No. I wanted nothing to do with Sale. Maybe he's changed, but he was a big ass baby when he was with the Sox. No thanks, don't care who you are, but if you're gonna cry every time you dont get your way, you can leave. The Q trade was a million times more disappointed than the Sale was at the time it happened (because of who Q was).

  29. The big g question about Jimenez is will posters on this board give the sox organization credit for finally developing a hitter or will the credit go to the Cubs. Thus way posters can still complain that the Sox can't develop position players.

  31. There were three mid-twenties couples sitting behind me at the game tonight. For most of the game the guys were discussing how baseball has no action there only tge three homeruns through the 6th or so with little else for hits. Cleveland got a couple of hits and one of females said, there is your action. In the 8th when Avilan was pitching 2 of the guys started complain about how slow it was and he was taking forever. Avilan threw over to first and they were yelling about what he was doing. After a second throw to first, they said they couldn't take it anymore, it was too slow now even worse than before and they needed to leave. They all got up and left. This is exactly what Manfred is talking about with the pace of play and action in the game. It was quite interesting to watch the conversation develop over the game. And my wife got mad because I was listening more to their conversation and not talking to her. All in all an interesting game,.

  32. As much as it would be fun to see these kids up here in Chicago, this rebuild hasn't been a net positive in Year 2. F Fulmer sucks; Giolito is not a top of the rotation starter, and likely not a starter on a good team, Moncada shows signs, but is batting .220 and strikes out at an alarming rate....Lopez has fallen off after a strong start. Assuming Rodon finishes the season healthy, they have a huge off-season decision to make on him. If the White Sox go into next season with the same team, add a few stop gaps and plan on calling up a few of these young talents in mid-April, they may be better, but it's probably still a 90 loss team. It's probably fiscally sensible, yet frustrating, to not start the clock on any young players until needed. If the team isn't planning on spending this off-season (probably unlikely, but I wouldn't rule it out to kickstart this rebuild), next year will be the about seeing improvements from young talent.

  36. You guys are also living and dying by UZR. He's also 6th in defensive range for shortstops and 11th in overall defensive rating for shortstops, per Fangraphs. Since a lot of that it skewed by his rough start, I think he already is a top 10 defensive shortstop.

  38. Moncada, Anderson, Lopez, and Giolito are really the only guys on the 25 man that are critical to the future of the organization. Don't necessarily need any of them to be stars.

  39. None of them. They all suck. Hahn sucks, Reinsdorf should sell the team, KW is a dick. Everyone blows. Deplete the organization.
