Apparently our targets were Betts and Benintendi + in July, that's why no deal.

Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN

White Sox get a big haul from BOS -- and it's a step down for what they asked for in July, which included Betts and Benintendi.

And a few months later, they get neither.

The Sox totally f***ed the Nationals last night. KW hates Mike Rizzo. They either leaked to Rosenthal and Heyman or the Nats did after thinking they had something locked up.

Good. Screw Mike Rizzo. He's still a dick for that EJax Adam Dunn stuff.

I've been holding my breath waiting for that funky delivery to finally catch up with Chris. Hope I'm wrong, hate to see him get hurt, but at least if he does the Sox dodged a bullet

It might never catch up with him. The guy's a freak of nature. I don't think injury risk was that high on the minds of teams that were willing to give up half their farm system for him. He's never had any issues with his arm, especially not as of late. He had some dead arm periods/starts when he first converted to a starter, but that was it.

That didn't even come to mind when I said that it's probably a leverage ploy. Makes a ton of sense.

Somehow posts like these are not ridiculous but posts saying that Moncada is completely unproven and far from a sure thing are?

So our two best hitting prospects strikeout a lot but also have a good eye at the plate. Hopefully they can cut down on the strikeouts because those worry me A LOT

Didn't seem to matter for the Cubs.

In this day and age, it is more than reasonable to think a pitcher is going to get hurt. So many of them do.

I'd say it is equally reasonable to worry about Moncada disappointing. Both things are possible. Pitchers get hurt and #1 prospects disappoint.

In the end, that does nothing to change the calculus of this deal either way.

2013: Byron Buxton, Oscar Taveras, Miguel Sano

Lot of good names there. Buxton was probably rushed to the bigs honestly.

Depends how you define "disappoint". He could be disappointing but still be a solid player for multiple years. That's his upside. If it's Garcia-type upside and Moncada winds up sucking, everyone is fired.
