It is clear Wheeler is waiting to see if the Twins, Reds, and Rangers will make an offer over the 100 million offered by the Sox. So nothing has probably changed on their end. Nothing is official of course but we can read between the lines. It came out today that Wheeler is our top priority, and he also has a 100m offer. This is one risk you take by giving your offer up front. That said, I think it's good news for the Sox... again, because Wheeler has made his desired deadline known and it doesn't appear that anyone has leapfrogged the offer yet, and their offer may have actually chased away some formal offers from other clubs as he exceeded their budget. The Sox had to have known their offer was gonna be shopped. They are in good shape and need to remain confident in this FA. I am concerned about RF because I don't think they like any of the options. Yeah, but can they give Wheeler 100 million if he wants to sign before the Winter Meetings and still have the possibility of signing Cole? I don't think so. I think the timing makes it difficult for them to be in on both. Cole won't sign early, so if that's your main target you just have to wait it out and hope.
