I just have no idea how the White Sox could possibly allow/promote/be OK with all of this stuff if they didn't think it was near certain. How else does this organization survive the disappointment after all of this stuff they have openly catered to?

I think it's pretty obvious we are getting Machado. I've always felt that way. I sure hope he arrives before the end of next week though. It'd be dumb for him to sit out any more of ST than that.

Ok, so can I resubmit my advice politely? You didn’t just take out the mean parts, you took out everything. @SoxAce, don’t abandon your child. Take responsibility for what happened. You might not want to be a dad, but you made a mistake and that’s the result, especially since she plans on keeping him/her. Work to rebuild that relationship however you can and be there for the kid in any way you can. Whether you realize it or not, that kid is going to think about you and wonder why you’re not there. It was a constant thought for my wife (somewhat different situation, but similar enough), and when I deal with troubled kids at my school, you’d be shocked at how often the lack of a father figure comes up. I’ve even heard kids explain their poor behavior themselves by pointing out that it might be different if they had dads. Don’t let that be your child. You’ll regret it a lot more down the road if you do. Sorry that I came off as harsh last night, but I’ve seen how this plays out further on. With everyone focusing on how you should protect yourself, I feel obliged to point out a different path. Please consider it.

I tend to believe this, too. It's hard to imagine that Manny hasn't made up his mind or at least he's pretty certain and waiting on the money/years to be there. And if he knows, then Yonder knows.

Kevin Gausmann got $9.35 million in arbitration year 3, not arbitration year 2. Anthony Rendon got $18 million in arbitration year 3, not arbitration year 2, and he's been in the top 11 of MVP voting the past 2 seasons. Zach Wheeler is in arbitration year 3 and is a free agent at the end of this year. I'm not even going to look the other ones up because I checked 3 and all 3 of them had the same problem. You're comparing guys in different arbitration years to make this look worse. Arbitration year 3 for Moncada, Giolito, and Lopez is 2023.

He's trying to get the best deal on each guy, and if he basically says "Yeah, we'll spend $65 mil a year on these guys" he then has a harder time convincing Machado he can't go up from $28 mil to $30 mil a year. He's not going to tip his hand.
