Forget about Machado and Harper. Noodle on Jed Lowrie for 2yr/25M w/option for yr. 3. Switch hitter w/pop (23 HRs/99RBIs) who can play 2nd or 3rd. Might as well see if Moncada can play 3rd now and Lowrie can be a more than adequate place holder until Madrigal arrives. If not, keep Moncada at 2nd and Lowrie at 3rd. While were' at it, try to pry Greg Bird away from the Yankees...perfect buy-low, change of scenery candidate who is a huge defensive upgrade at first. I'm guessing the Yankees might entertain Yolmer straight-up as IF insurance until Gregorius returns (maybe Glaybar at SS and Yolmer at 2nd). No reason to NT Avi since he is blocking no one and for some odd reason, I think he is gonna come out strong in 2019...if anything, flip him at the deadline. Keep Jose as platoon 1B and DH.

Why would I be banned for having an opinion? Yes as hard as it is to believe I am not appalled by the end of the Ozzie era in Chicago. I think it was inevitable. They'll never re-hire him as manager so I don't know why we get worked up over people's opinions of his legacy. I think of him as a WS manager who deserves credit for leaving his starters in all those playoff games and not overmanaging. He won't ever manage again so what's the big deal? Managers are hired to be fired anyway. He wasn't going to be on a lifetime contract with the Sox with his ego and lack of PC. Personally my biggest beef with him was his "Sunday lineups" which seems silly that I'd care about that now considering how bad the team has been under Robin/RR.

We think in step with the high school education and life skills stuff. Unfortunately, as to your homeschooling comment, high school is more of a social learning experience than anything else. At least I haven't found utility in my trigonometry, physics and Chicago history classes yet. And everyone my age is clueless as to how to pay their taxes, how debt works, soft skills, etc.

The general education courses you are required to take aren't what the university deemed you need to take. Its based on educational theories on expanding the mind to think in different ways to improve functional intelligence in a number of areas. Intelligence isn't knowledge and content. Its the process of thinking. This is why classes in math, science, history and other general education are required, to get the mind thinking differently. If you only want to attain knowledge in a given area, you are missing the entire point of a college education. You are approaching it like specializing in sports, which just as bad of an idea for you physically and the mind being to specialized in education. We all have strengths and weakness in learning. It doesn't mean your mind isn't better off getting out of its comfort zone.

It also does not help that HR at most bigger companies is a joke. Everything is an algorithm and the application processes are choppy. It really just comes down to who do you know rather than are you qualified. I never thought I'd be a hippy dippy who'd consider home schooling my kids or doing some kind of alternative learning (and probably still wont) but the system we're in just cares about teaching to the test. Your whole life your taught to just be obedient and regurgitate a scan-tron test. At the end of the day you have a bunch of kids who have just memorized material without really questioning why or learning financial and life skills to excel in life. We should really be teaching our kids more computer science, more basic financial skills, more cooking/health oriented classes, more wood shop/auto/trades type classes.

What an absolutely terrible post. You should be banned from this site for this bullshit. Ozzie actively chose himself over his players when the team was battling for a playoff spot. We were heading to Detroit and needed to take care business and he decided that was the time to start whining about his contract. He’s a selfish motherfucker who will always place self over others. You'd think Jose likes Chicago and would sign for four/five years for reasonable Paulie-like money? Sign him to a 4-year deal and let's see if we have a feel-good story for our WS contending teams. It's doubtful he's going to pull an Alex Gordon and forget completely how to hit. How bout 4-years, 65 million and if he doesn't accept, it was fun knowing you, Jose. That's not going to break the Sox, and like I said, we aren't going to win the pennant with all new guys. Keep Jose and Avi or at least one of the two is my edict.

You have every right to be skeptical, just don’t come in here and say “Why are you guys wasting your time talking about this? It’s never going to happen.” That’s just going to rile up people who want to be optimistic and feel like the organization is serious this time about making a big move.

KW was shocked. He thought the White Sox mystic and his pitch could convince him into signing for $300k. They did the same thing with Tanaka. If the plan is to wow him with a presentation and a middling financial offer, nothing has changed. I will believe they are serious when he signs.

I've said it when we started the rebuild and I'll say it now....having guys like Sale, Q, and Eaton to trade may have helped jump start the rebuild, but the only way this organization will have sustainable success is if it has also massively enhanced its drafting & talent development programs. If it can't identify and develop players at the lower levels who go on to be good-to-great players, than this rebuild is for nothing and an entirely new regime needs to be brought in. If you are an optimist, you'd point out to the fact that the Sox had new people in draft of player development and drafting (Hostetler / Getz / etc). If you were a pessimist, you'd say those changes weren't enough and you had the same overall leadership that had failed to effectively draft and develop from the early 2000's onward. I would say both parties are probably partially accurate, but as fans, we have to hope the 1st camp ways out. You could point out to the Robert signing as a sign of "something new", however, it is still a pretty small sign, since the Dodgers or Cubs would have not just "signed" Robert...they'd have knew they were going all in on that particular year and signed 5 guys to large deals.

They need to do a better job of teaching college students real world skills too, as right now a BA or BS is nothing more than a tuition receipt. I never thought I'd be so unprepared with a college degree that I couldn't even get a decent job. You try to get a crappy job after that, and they won't hire you because you're overqualified. This is the problem that College grads are running into: They're underqualified for entry level jobs in their field with just a college degree, and overqualified for any other job. It is leaving a lot of people in no-man's land and having to lie on their apps to get the crappy jobs.

Hopefully it involves placing a check on the table and telling Machado to write whatever dollar amount he wants on it.

I think this is pretty spot-on. There are plenty of media that get scolded without much reason, but much of the info-tainment garbage on mainstream networks leans left. Not all of course, and not nearly as far as some make it out to be, but it is there. And also, yeah, it's negative often because the guy is just a train wreck. It wasn't like this with Bush, even on "Fake news" CNN, because while Bush (and Obama and any other President) deserved some criticism, none of them were the abject disasters that Trump is.

I think you're right on the news "media" side of things, however, it's pretty clear Hollywood and entertainment generally is dominated almost exclusively by the left. Talk shows, for example, are exclusively left and attack Trump on a nightly basis. Having said that, he deserves 99% of the criticism since he is an awful human being.

Well sure, the money will need to be there. But I think outside the win now factor, there are a ton of plusses to joining the White Sox. And I fully disagree with your assessment of the marketing opportunities. Chicago is a major market and these guys would be the face of the franchise and not just another star. I think the potential would be huge.

Because I personally don't believe either Harper or Machado has even the slightest interest in the White Sox unless...unless the Sox offer is significantly and highly over the top compared to other club offers. Teams that can actually win now (not potentially in two-three years), have large scale marketing opportunities for said player (the Sox are so far off the board in Chicago they basically don't even register) and present an environment that is stable in the relative long term (say the next three to five years. With the age of JR, should new ownership come into play, who knows what could happen to the franchise) those are the teams I think they will listen to. Yea JR understands but it's not up to him. It takes two to make a deal and I just don't think those guys basically care a tinker's cuss (ya like that phrase? LOL) right now about the White Sox.
