Whenever you want, preferably in another thread so that the rest of us don't have to read it in one designed to talk about next month's draft.9 points

The bigger takeaway from tampa, as ever, is getting that direct comparison in an organization that commits to player development and squeezing value out of every asset, and the white sox.3 points

Yea, I’ll take Robert over Rodgers. Better defender, similar power/hit tool, and better speed.2 points

If Cordell pops that up it is a double play. If he misses it Sanchez is out at home, or in a run down. 1 out, 1st and 3rd, your chances of scoring are much higher letting the batter swing away (Cordell had been killing the ball all game too if you want to make a situational argument). Just because a call works or is dramatic and fun does not mean it was a good call. That said, it was absolutely dramatic and fun, so we may as well go lock up the W now.2 points

I'd way rather just sink or swim with Lambert or Flores. These guys are both 24 years old, so not super young. Lets see what we got.2 points

Oh man, are we really about to move to Josh Phegley, who averages 40 games played per year over the past 6 years, as the next thing to incessantly complain about? With the way this board acts, you'd have no idea that Anderson and Moncada are OPSing .860+, Giolito is looking like an ace, Eloy is back in the coming days, Robert is doing well in AA, etc.2 points

Rooting for Walker, but still, strange choices to me. Alek Thomas is doing really well in A ball, also with great BB:K numbers. Signed for 900k less. Instead of pilkington could have gone after one of the many high school arms in round 3 with 1.5 million. Just not a fan of the draft strategy recently. Milwaukees was beautiful.2 points

https://www.danblewett.com/run-expectancy-bunting-bad/ Bunting never increases the odds of scoring, only lessens them. It can only be rationalize with a truly awful hitter at the plate like a pitcher. Have you noticed we almost never see other teams sac bunting when playing them. The rest of baseball is now aware of this and have stopped. Yet we have a manager who will bunt every time we get runners on in a late inning close game.1 point

Yeah when he is good he is really good , multiple hits, extra base hits, and stolen bases.1 point

Alonso and Castillo now down to .180 and .186 BA.1 point

Disagree. It worked thus it's a GREAT call. It's about results! It worked. Ricky take a bow. A-plus move there.1 point

That isn't how it works: Let's say Steph can shoot 20% from half-court, which is amazing and also a bad shot. He shoots 4, misses 4. All 4 were bad shots. Now he shoots and makes a 5th. You don't sit there and say it was a good shot because it worked this time, gotta give him credit. He made a bad shot I did some fact checking of myself, however. In this case, I will admit there is some room for debate. For the situation (1st, 3rd 1 out) the run expectancy of a squeeze is negative (so you are expecting to score less runs than if you did not do it). But, some people have argued that, at least with a good bunter, your run probability (chances of scoring a single run) are a touch higher. So in the bottom of the 9th of a tie game, probably a good call. With 3 outs left to get, it really is opinion probably, and how highly you think of Colome. 7th and earlier, it is no bueno.1 point

We'll add this to a potential L that Renteria's managing has cost us if the Sox lose this one.1 point

No pinch hitter there? Seriously there its hard to imagine a lower IQ manager than ricky. Hella nice guy.. but box of rocks.1 point

Hate to see the error, but they happen. We had one, they had one, and the game is even. Tip of the hat to Covey with an impressive start- he deserved to leave in a position to take the W1 point

Good job Covey! We couldn't have asked for more.1 point

I'd take the under on Narvaez being in the league in 3 years. He isn't very good. He can hit a little bit, but not nearly enough if he isn't catching. I know he's been pretty good this year, but I don't see it lasting. And Colome has been quite good. The Sox have done OK with catchers. They turned Tyler Flowers into a decent big league catcher, and a very well respected game caller and defensive catcher. He got poor grades as a defensive catcher in the minors. Narvaez, while a terrible defensive catcher, the Sox plucked him out the minor league phase of the rule 5 draft and turned him into one of the better closers in the game. Thats not bad either. It took Phegley over 4 years to become a playable option in Oakland. He is not a loss.1 point

He’s rehabbing an injury. Should be back soon. He did an interview with SonsofHahnarchy podcast if you want to know more1 point

But Delmonico, Tilson, Engel and Cordell are? I totally get why people were sick of Avi, but if you want to discount his luck in 2017, then 2018 should also be thrown out due to the injury.1 point

Well there's that guy playing shortstop that has been talked about every day all year long.1 point

His character is redeemed, then he's running back to Cersei. He is redeemed, and then he's running back to Cersei. All of the times that they push Jaime back to Cersei on the show seemed to be because the plot dictate that happen rather than the natural progression of his character arc. Characters die on this show, but that doesn't mean that the characters shouldn't act consistent with their characterizations over the prior 8 seasons...1 point

So you bunt the runners over, and now you’ve taken the bat out of the hands of your hottest hitter who will surely be walked to set up another double play situation1 point
